Boro vs Chelsea - Talksport

Had some good players from Chelsea so I don't hate the club as much as many who might have forgotten
Geremi
Bolo
Bamford
Kalas

Gibbo was happy to take plenty of others of late too.

Fans are generally fairly rancid mind, and I know a few.

Potentially we are able to strengthen our team in the January window, which no one has mentioned.
I did briefly mention it, but I agree and it's worth reiterating more clearly. A player who signs for us on January 2nd has the opportunity to feature against Villa and Chelsea twice in their first month, live on TV. Given our current injury list, they might well start. That's a pretty good pitch (particularly to a quality young player in Archer's mould) and something NO other Championship side can offer when Premier League clubs are considering who they should send their players to. It also means we might get deals done early in the window for good measure.

They took Geremi from us! Well signed him after he was on loan to us and I imagine we would have liked to make that permanent.

To be fair, we did exactly the same with Port Vale.

I don't think we did. Everything I read was respectful, people saying it'll be a tough game, they'll be up for it, it'll be an intimidating atmosphere. None of which turned out to be true mind, but I didn't see or hear much arrogance from our fans

Yep we had him on loan from Real Madrid. He was quality.
Apologies gents. Went a bit Sunak on that one and failed to recall.

Who was the behind the scenes guy Gibbo took on from Chelsea. Was he a director of football or responsible for transfer business?

With a better team, without a lot of injuries and without the same kind of fixture congestion.

Was it a better team? Joe Lumley, Payero, Aaron Connolly, Sporar, and ready to retire Peltier, Bamba and Neil Taylor all playing some point in that game against Man United suggests otherwise to me.

Versus potentially Glover, Silvera, Coburn, Dijksteel, Engel, Clarke etc. Yes i'd say so.

Lumley, Connolly and Payero were all abysmal. Bamba, Taylor and Peltier were good professionals, but well past their best.
Not really sure what our current players, playing in an injury ravaged squad have done to be judged worse than them. Especially as many of them are playing their first season for us, or just returning from injury. Every one of them have made positive contributions already this season.
It’s unlikely that all or even most of those players you mentioned will play against Chelsea in 3 weeks time anyway.

They can write us off as much as they like, we're in the last 4 of a major cup competition and for any side outside the PL that is a massive achievement.
Regardless of the easier run we got there is absolutely 0 reason we can't give Chelsea a damn good game. My dad is a Chelsea fan and I watch a lot of them, they are not the team they were a few years back. Dare to dream and expect nothing, it's going to be amazing

You've mostly picked players that came off the bench in extra time or late in the game. Notwithstanding that Sporar, Payero, Taylor, Bamba and Connolly were internationals. As discussed that was also a one off game that we scraped through on penalties so it's not really relevant.

Can't be often that a team has reached a major cup semi-final with the vast majority of their supporters not having been present at any of the games.

Considering the injury crisis we are doing OK especially after the Swansea result... Got to stick together in these tough times
