BRAVERMAN SACKED

It's interesting that we could potentially have somebody in a Great Office of State who's not a member of Parliament.

I assume they'll do something about that and make Cameron a peer, but it'll be a first in a long time until then, surely.

I've mentioned earlier in this post that they are going to make him a member of the House of Lords.

Think the example given was Nicky Morgan who was already a peer. It's not that uncommon, plenty of lords have served as ministers, usually junior ones though.

What takes the **** even more is appointing someone to the lords just so you can give them a job.

Needless to say Boris has already set that example when he did it for his chum Zac Goldsmith immediately after Goldsmith lost his seat. Democracy eh?

Nicky Morgan was in parliament as an MP when she was appointed though, she just kept her job after stepping down, and then re-entered parliament in the Lords.

Cameron hasn't been in parliament for 7 years.

I'd not meant to use "member of Parliament" to mean MP, though that's obviously how it comes across, I just noticed my mistake, I'd meant a person not in the House of Commons or Lords

Can you just stroll up to number 10 knock on the door and be given a peerage. Surely there must be some due process. Not a clue about these things.

Cameron as Foreign Sec is a big fat 'F' you to the 350 Tory MP's who could have also done the job, none of whom are deemed good enough by Sunak. cant imagine thats going to go down well at all.
It's certainly a bold move.

Looks like a massive own goal. I think pretty much everyone, leavers and remainers alike still blame him for the brexit clusterfuck.

Also going to really pish off the right of the party you'd think. Has Sunak effectively just declared war on them? 🤔

Hopefully they'll tear themselves apart. Bet the Daily Mail don't know where to start!

They have run out of ideas, lost all semblance of self awareness entirely. A general election is nigh.
This. I find the possibility of David Cameron coming back into the Government bizarre in the extreme, particularly given his tarnished reputation on more than one level. Either Sunak doesn't care anymore or as suggested he has terrible political awareness and is a desperate man.

Cameron back in ...... is it 2013 and the last ten years was a dream. Who do you reckon we should get in to replace Mowbray?

In 1963 there was briefly a PM who was neither in the Lords or the Commons
