You well travelled lot on here may be able to help me.

I'm lucky enough to be off beer tasting with my best mate in Brussels on Thursday for the weekend.

I'm after a sports bar for the England Match on Thursday night as well as any other must see/do's

Thanks in advance

Grand-Place is truly spectacular. There are loads of bars and stuff around there too, serving fantastic beer. I wouldn't say Brussels has loads of other must-see landmarks, I've been a couple of times and thought the same each time. Mannequin Pis is underwhelming but it is right outside a fantastic pub.

Not really sure about sports bars but it will be on somewhere. Le Cercueil is a good bar if you like something with a bit of dive/atmosphere.

Also, enjoyed the Delirium Village.

Bit of a random suggestion but I had the best sandwich of my life there. Look up Tonton Garby. It's small but really well known. You tell him the kind of things you like and he knocks you up a bespoke sandwich.

If memory serves it's not too far from Brussel's Park.

We also liked the Herge (TinTin) museum, but not for everyone.

This place. Over 2000 beers and music on Thursday & Sunday nights (or they used to)

I've got to say the England game would be the last thing on my mind 🤣. Some great bars in the side streets just off the Grand Place.

Poechenellekelder just close by to Manneken Pis is fantastic.

Delirium Village and The Golden Bar are also very good.

Have fun but be careful. The strength of those Belgian beers can take people by surprise!

Beer Mania.
If you Google it or look on maps you will find it. He’s also on Facebook. It’s basically a beer shop with 100’s of different beers. You pick from the shelf and then he will serve you a cold one.
He brews his own beer called Mia culpa which tastes like an angel is crying on you tongue. Beautiful.
There is a mezzanine area with large tv. He put football on for us in the past.
It’s also not far from place de Luxembourg which has some decent bars.

Update this post once you’ve been and let us know where you went

Is that the place that sells everything you need for a home bar?

We're off there start of May, been before a few years ago.

If you're into Lambics, Cantillon brewery is apparently very good, as is 3 fonteinen (albeit a bus ride away).

Has anyone got any experience of watching domestic football over there? Playoffs are on when we're around so would like to take in a game if possible - presume tickets are usually fairly easy to come by?

I went in January and watched 5 games. Home games for Mechelen, Gent, Leuven, Oostende and Club Brugge.

I needed to register with each of the clubs to get a fan ID no. so I could buy etickets online.

Possibly not as easy as you may hope.

OK thanks - think the fixtures will be confirmed a week before, so hopefully time to get it all sorted.

Looking at last year's playoffs the majority of games were played on a Sunday which may make it tricky anyway as we fly back that day (from Charleroi - d'oh)

If you end up in Bruges, I can highly recommend the Halve Maan brewery tour. Approx 8eu each and a free beer at the end. It’s entertaining, funny, and the bar at the end is a nice place to be
In fact, just go to Bruges. Such a gorgeous little town. and it smells of chocolate
