Frank used to live near The Yellow Rose didn’t he? Osborne Rd??I remember him telling me about the Germans invading his village in Poland. His son is/was an inspector with Cleveland Police. I used to get a lift into Lackenby with the Training Officer Frank Rose who lived on Addison Road. I had an office above the shift managers. Was mostly on days by then.

He used to pick me up at Park Lane garages.
 
4 years as an apprentice spark 1974 to 1978.
First 2 years were at the Hartlepool training centre. It was great as they coached us in and back everyday from Boro as we were originally told we would be at Clay Lane. This gave us a 6 hr work day.
Off to Lackenby for 2 years Main Electric shop. Comcast. Beam mill. Signals. Loved it there but as soon as Redcar opened we were all sent there to come out of our time after a few months going around the site.
Ended up on the Coke ovens which I hated. Great people but crap conditions.
Left in 80 as I was sick of coming home pitted with black fat. Shower wouldn't shift it around the eyes..
