Burnley - the case of a well run club

He said he didn't like him, not that he hadn't done a good job.

I'd say someone's personality is a pretty big factor for deciding whether you like him.
I can't stand Sean Dyche, and that's because he comes across as a knob to me and I hate his voice.
I still recognise he's done an okay job as a manager.
Cheers, yep I actually said he'd done an incredible job even! Beginning to think I was going mad 😂

Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level then beat you with experience.

Idiot WTF?

You've overstepped the mark there son

20+ years on this board I've said some daft things, we all have, but nobody's called me an idiot

To think that I've often had great respect for your posts in the past - obviously I have misjudged your character

Sorry, yeah no offence intended.

It's a famous humorous quote that I used in response to the fact that you were trying to poke fun at me for saying Dyche wasn't good at his job because I didn't like him. Whereas I'd quite literally said the exact opposite.

Was poorly judged -apologies.

Match day revenue and commercial money - total of around £23 million . Wages account for 63% of turnover. That is how to run a club.
Mind new owners borrowings to buy the club could change this....
Yes reading about the new owners it seems like they have purchased the Club on a Glazer type model. Used the assets of the Club to buy it and loaded it up with debt. If they do get relegated I could forsee an asset strip akin to Portsmouth. Worrying for their fans for the future especially as Dyche has recently said the new owners dont want to spend much money on new players.

I didnt realise that. Yes that isn't a good prospect and all the signs of future trouble.

The club is well run, for a business, but dear me, dross week in week out for a single aim, to stay, feeding off the top table scraps. At least they do it without loosing money, but the premier league is a despot of sporting glory at the moment.

Burnley has been well run in the last 8 years, but they struggled from 1975 to the early 90s - I remember them playing in the old Division 4 now Div 2. In the early 1960s they would have been a Champions League side. Just shows things go in cycles for teams like Burnley and Boro.

That's an interesting point. I just looked at the 1962-3 league table, Burnley were third that season.

Out of the 22 teams in the old first division, 14 of them are in today's Prem League.

Yes they were a top team in the 60's with a few northeast players in their team

I remember when playing Burnley in 72-73 season, my 1st full season attending, Burnley were top of the 2nd division when they visited AP in December I think, they scored 1st & we hit back to lead 3-1, they scored 2 late goals to equalise & I can still to this day remember standing in the boysend & feeling gutted with throwing two late goal away to the top team

Lets not forget we made history at Burnley when winning there 2-0 in the league Cup QF in December 1975
