Can i issue a fine to my energy company?

My energy company were supposed to fit a smart meter at my property today because I think I'm being overcharged.

They haven't turned up which has cost me a days wage and wasted a day of my time. I've found out that they made a mistake with the booking and they've admitted the mistake was theirs and they won't be coming today.

Its a daft question but can I issue them with a charge or fine for loss of wages?
Its the type of thing I would have tolerated in the past but I feel like these companies deserve a kick up the ****. If I didn't pay my bills then I'm sure I'd be charged and in the current climate I don't want to be turning work down.

Post a message on their FB page. Organisations hate negative publicity and you'll probably get a rep asking you to message them. Not sure they'll cover loss of work costs but they should compensate you. Hold out for £100.

Not a fine as such but I would hope that a strongly worded letter or email detailing your complaint and what you have potentially lost financially would at least prompt a response and an offer of compensation.

if they've made a clear mistake and have accepted that I can't imagine they won't have a complaints procedure that they can follow.

I've followed the official complaints procedure and made a complaint to the customer service agent over the phone. They'll apparently respond within a few days, just got a feeling it will be something like a 20 pound credit to my bill.

Just wondered if we could play them at their own game.

If its not resolved I might go the social media route 👍🏻

I had a smart meter fitting booked, and the guy turned up an hour after the 10am-2pm slot that I'd been given. I had to go out, so wasn't there when he turned up at 3pm. I was given a credit on my account, much to my surprise, as I hadn't even asked for it. I think it was about £25-£30.

A couple of years ago I arranged to have a smart meter fitted by Scottish Power but they didn’t turn up and it was not mentioned again. I switched to Eon a while after and our meter situation is unchanged.

Just speaking from experience Baron. They'll never compensate anyone for loss earnings specifically.
Yeah I know. It just annoys. Hey here's £30, that'll cover a days lost earnings. Err, no it won't. How about from now on, I'll just pay you the wholesale price of gas, and screw your overheads (y)

Bet that goes down like a fart in a lift !

Ring the manager and ask them to . I was having a front door fitted in the 90s. It cost £900 and they didn't come the day they said they would fit it. I rang the manager and said it had cost me a day's pay. I was just about to kick off when he said how much a day do you earn. I was a bit surprised and said £300. He told me to just knock it off the bill.
I was narked for weeks because I didn't say £500.
