Can you imagine if we went up automatically on the last day?

Or if we just miss out on the last day and somehow Watford scrape into 6th spot.

Watford beat us with a last minute Britt winner in the second leg at the Riverside to progress to the final. A gurning Wilder does a lap of the Riverside waving his CV to the fans.

Huddersfield vs Sheffield might be worth going to.. they could do with a sell out crowd and we could do with them turning Sheffield over. Never mind the samba party or the flat cap wearing which we’ve never done.. NEIL WARNOCK DAY!!

Watford aren’t making the top six

I do fear that Huddersfield may be already relegated by then.

And if so, then Warnock - being a Sheff Utd fan - will likely do us no favours whatsoever.

I can see why Carrick says own game at a time. It's just horrible looking at the games to come and work out what might happen.

I don’t believe that Warnock would just let another team or another manager win.. regardless of the team he supports.

He's a master of pressure management.

Think some managers can't help themselves but start rambling on about "what we need to do", "I know what we need to do" etc etc. He never seems to get sucked into it.

I don't know if he feels any pressure himself, you wouldn't think it to listen to him.

God if we don’t go up this thread will haunt me forever.

Also what @Diego said - I think when Aitor took us up, we’d been nailed on, spent a fortune, been to Wembley and back, we’d had a fantastic two years. This time, when Carrick took over it was generally with a hope of moving away from relegation with a view to pushing on later. To be third looking up at the top two and thinking we could well finish 2nd is just amazing. How on earth has he got us here? It’s mental.

If we do go up surely it’s the best turnaround ever in a Championship season? Better than when Dowie took Palace up from nowhere.

Good shouts. I wonder how the table looked at the time Carrick took us over in those other two years. Be interesting to see where Sunderland, Forest where in October/November time. Think Sunderland were bottom at one point but that was more or less in August?

He's won 5 PL titles, the FA Cup, the Champions League, played in games for England, countless big matches against some of the worlds best teams - in terms of pressure this season is nothing compared to what he has ben used to.

Also reading his list of honours makes me realise how very lucky we are to have him.

I don't think it would be as good as Forest's achievement last season.

They were bottom on 1 point, 12 points off the play-offs, and 14 points off 4th (where they finished).

When Carrick took over, we were 21st, 9 points off the play-offs and 12 points off 3rd (where we currently are).

Obviously if we go up automatically, it's a bigger achievement.

Cooper joined Forest after only 8 games (I believe they had 4 points, not 1 btw). 9 points from the play-offs and 12 from fourth.

We had played 16 games when Carrick started - more than a third of the season had gone. We were also 9 points from the play-offs and 12 from third.

So very similar turn around needed but 8 games less in which to do it.
