Carrick Manager of the Season

Seriously Boro !
So Gibson and the scouting team are telling Carrick that he has to get us into the play - offs , then beat either Leeds Southampton or Ipswich at Wembley . With either Latte Lath or Coburn leading the line .
If he manages to do that , he deserves a knighthood.
Totally underwhelming transfer window .

"well we tried and things didnt go our way. It wasnt through lack of trying but clubs are paying ridiculous prices for strikers and we have to tread careful with FFP and all that . We go again on sunday and we have a squad that can give anyone a game on there day" - unofficial quote

I'm sure Carrick will get a tune out of the squad, but given his potential and the ability that he's already displayed then I'd hope the club give him the tools to get us promoted and we don't look back on his tenure and wonder what could have been.
I really hope we have a plan in place for next season that means we are ready to go from the off and we won't be playing catchup again.

“I'm sure he'll be able to have a big impact, he can definitely play centre-forward for us".

Yep I remember him saying it. Choice of the word can rather than will though. And still yet to see it from the start of a game. Now with Jones out think we can safely rule it out.

I’d like to see it though one time but just highly doubt he will do it.

Got to get used to it. Sold our best striker before the season started and our most productive player in the winter.
That's our club now. Mid table team with a few periods where it looks like we might make the play offs but ultimately fail for the next 5 seasons minimum.

We haven’t sold McGree or Jones have we?!

It is my opinion that Rogers doesn't make our starting eleven when everyone is fit. I wonder how many on here will be wanting us to sign him back on when he's not in the Villa squad for the next few seasons.

I still don't get the moaning, we're building a decent squad and have a plan at last. Zero long term vision from some fans, instant success expected after pretty much buying a whole new squad. We've blown millions on rubbish for years and got nowhere. We'll have targets that we can't sign until the summer, why blow money on short term solutions?

What’s this obsession about going up this season? Of course we’d all like that. But it was always unlikely - though still possible.

We’re weaker than last season because of losing the loans and Chuba (unavoidable, but a big profit). The 3 relegated teams were all likely to be stronger than us anyway. And we’ve had crazy bad luck.

We’re building for the future. We’re signing the right kind of players and playing decent football. We’re being careful with FFP (or whatever it’s called these days). Gibson doesn’t have a bottomless pit of money to not have to balance the books.

I think it’s been a decent window. Cover in problem positions. Azaz looks like a prospect. We’ve made a decent profit on a player we’ve had for 6 months.

Would I have liked a striker? Absolutely. A few years ago we’d have bought one for £10m. The fact we haven’t proves the right one wasn’t available, or didn’t want to come. Better to not buy than blow all our money.

We will go up, I’m sure. Almost certainly not this season. But soon. And, more importantly, we will continue to exist.
