The obvious reason would seem to be that it relates to a charge that was raised in the 19/20 season, which has only just finished. The charge seems to have been sat on for months and then. low and behold, a week after the season finishes they get points deduction delayed until next season, when they have far more time to make up the points deduction. There is no more reason for the penalty to be levied in the 19/20 season than the 20/21 season. Charlton don't have a leg to stand on. I hope that we aren't one of the 8 clubs as it is to our advantage it is levied next season, and because Charlton deserve to be relegated.
Charlton seem to have far bigger concerns than this anyway. Their new owners don't seem to have the money they said they had when taking over the club.
Wigan appeal verdict due at 4pm isnt it? If it gets overtuned then the EFL are going to be spending a lot of time in court...

Wigan could probably have made up the 12 points given the full season - they were charged and deducted points in the last 6 weeks of the season.
Sheff Weds were charged last year - why has it taken so long?
Is that a fact? Why can't the points deduction be this season?and because Charlton deserve to be relegated.
Because they didn't get enough points playing football. Why can't it be next season? Is that a fact? Why can't the points deduction be this season?
