Coburn... Not the man .. needs to go on loan ?
Kiefer Moore .. ' doesn't fit our style '
Etc

Looks like you need a big lad / focal point ( or someone who plays like that ) up top, to be in with a chance of getting out of this league.

And it's been that way for years

Was funny in the summer how many on here didn't even want to keep Akpom. Top scoring season since the 60s but still written off as a 1 season wonder.

Thankfully I wasn't one of them. Should have been our number one target to retain him and get either Giles or Archer as well.
When we failed to secure any of them was when I started to think our finances were in a much worse state than just having to transition to a sustainable model.
If, as I fear, we sell our remaining assets this summer and replace them with projects then it's going to be interesting to say the least.

I don’t remember seeing any of this at all for it to have been more than like a handful of people.

I think there were quite a few who thought we couldn't afford to turn down £12m (or even lower). The problem with that is, money in the bank doesn't win football matches.

I wonder how much of that fee has since been spent on loan fees/wages for O'brien, Ayling, Greenwood and Thomas.

The club never fully reinvest fees they receive for players, so always baffling that some fans are always seemingly really keen to sell our best players. Not as if we get a cut is it?

It wasn’t that. It was acceptance that with a year left on his deal there was no way he was staying.

How much would we have had to pay Chuba to keep him? We could have held him hostage for his final season I suppose, but not sure that would have paid dividends.

The club need money as a business to balance the overheads fans don't see, chuba rightly wanted to go to Ajax, why wouldn't he, Ajax or Boro, granted it quite hasn't worked out at present.

£12m for a player who could leave for free in a year.

Force a player to stay who wanted to leave, would his numbers and his application of been the same when probably already sorted a new move by now for this summer, who knows.

From a financial perspective and for the player it made sense, am sure we expected and tried to get a number of players but where probably being asked for ridiculous figure because we had some money so we stood firm on our valuation.

None of us really know the dynamics of a football transfer, but from the outside looking in and for a club like Boro all the current transfers have been good lumps of money in my opinion for the players in question, the problem is the people who have been brought in have not really strengthened the squad as yet but again they have come from different leagues and countries so maybe next year having settled they will dramatically improve.
