Champions League VAR

Of course it’s bent. Simply another method for ensuring the big names get the rub of the green.
sadly, it’ll be Nucasl benefitting from these decisions very soon

No idea what to expect with the Prem VAR. Yet the champions league interpretations of rules and laws is different again.

So basically f*ck knows what's going on. That was never a pen. I've seen the champions league rules on handball on twitter and they have got it massively wrong. They state body to hand shouldn't be a pen. The official has had a mare.

That's not VAR. It's an official not knowing the rules. No doubt an apology this week. Simply not worth the paper it's wrote on 😔

Sorry but there is no clause in football law relating to the ball striking another part of the body as mitigation to awarding a pen for handball offence.

What you have referred to is a recommendation from last season that was not implemented by UEFA.

From a referee, "Last April, in their guidelines for the upcoming season, the Uefa board recommended that there should be clarity that no handball offence should be called on a player if the ball is previously deflected from their own body," Hackett said. "But this recommendation was not implemented - and Newcastle paid the price at the Parc des Princes"

I believe that EPL did implement the recommendation and have provided guidance to referees around this subject. So in EPL, it was unlikely to be given due to a difference in interpretation of the law.
