Championship attendances this season

Will they be record breaking?
Off the top of my head, all decent:

Boro
Sunderland
Leeds
Leicester
Norwich
Southampton
Sheff Wed
Ipswich
Coventry
West Brom

Bristol city have huge potential isolated big city, nice ground with any real investment they’d probably get about 35,000 on in the premier league. Ipswich crowds before last season were awful part timers it seems

Since the rebrand, I think it will be, surely.

But I expect that the huge crowds of the 50s won't be beaten.

Good point. I was only thinking of back to the 70s

The post war 40s were even bigger crowds too.

But it's surely going to be up there for the modern era, which is all the more impressive when you consider the economy and prices, and the fact so many people just watch the matches illegally now.

Shouldn’t be during a cost of living crisis.
I think it is to do with the teams in the division as opposed to more people going to matches overall, regardless of their disposable income.

Compared to last season:
Leicester, Southampton, Leeds, Sheff Wed, Ipswich & Plymouth
- I think will have higher aggregate attendances than the teams they replaced -
Burnley, Sheff Utd, Luton, Wigan, Blackpool & Reading.

So the Championship will have a net gain but the prem and league one a net loss.

They could never attract attendances that high. Its a rugby city with also another EPL club.

Leicester is also a rugby city but the football club gets 30k.
And so is Hull, yet Hull City still attract more than FC & KR combined. The point I'm making is there'll always be large swathes of the population who have little or no interest in football compared to other large towns & cities that don't have another sporting counter attraction.
Bristol City wouldn't attract average attendances of 35,000. Its not a footballing hotbed nor ever will be,

Yes it’s a fair point. Bristol is very different to Newcastle for the reason you mention. The region around Bristol is much more rugby oriented. Traditional rugby towns like Bath and Gloucester are nearby too.
