It’s laughable isn’t it.I'd bet the outcome is that the monarchy never owned any slaves and it was all someone else's fault. Or it was all accidental.
It just owned the people who owned the slaves.I'd bet the outcome is that the monarchy never owned any slaves and it was all someone else's fault. Or it was all accidental.
It's strange, if it is a real investigation as the inevitable result will be that the monarchy is pursued for reparations, so I wonder what game is being played by old Big Ears. It’s laughable isn’t it.
The naive part is the trouble Harry and you do feel he could be manipulated. While I'm a republican, I have a bit of time for Charles. He's certainly a much more progressive thinker than his father was. I believe and hope he's doing it in the spirit of transparency and reparation but I think he's also quite naive. It won't take much for the press to turn on him again, that's for sure.
But what can that possibly mean.the spirit of transparency and reparation
That's a pretty low bar though, isn't it ?!He's certainly a much more progressive thinker than his father was.

We witnessed protests when William and Kate toured the Caribbean recently.I think it's just addressing the growing pressure on people whose family benefited historically from slavery to address the sins of their ancestors.
He's currently King of 7 black majority Caribbean countries where slavery was rampant under the British Empire, not to mention the overseas territories.
I expect most of them will become republics in the next decade or so, but whilst he's still their King, it's a big elephant in the room.

It’s a good job it’s not actual elephant …I think it's just addressing the growing pressure on people whose family benefited historically from slavery to address the sins of their ancestors.

Hes the African elephant in the room with those earsIt’s a good job it’s not actual elephant …
as his father would have shot it.
But to what end though as we already know the answer as the uk monarchy is largely the reason slavery at that time existed. But seriously, our history is littered with despotic, cruel and frankly bizarre monarchs. If the current incumbent is using his time to reflect upon some terrible aspects of history, then that's not a bad thing.

Harry, this happens every time there’s a change of management. Just another pretence of some level of mea culpa. “ Look we’re are changing with the times…we are aware”
He knows, and his advisors are very much aware that the old Queen is sill very much ‘present’
in consciousness of the country. He has to tread very carefully.
The big gig is coming up…see what the reception is after that.
