Charles to look into the monarchy’s links to slavery

We aren't responsible for the sins of our ancestors. He doesn't have to investigate it so why is everyone so hostile and negative that he is doing? I'm no fan by the way but why do we constantly attack people just because we don't like them or what they stand for, instead of applauding them when they do something good.

While I'm a republican, I have a bit of time for Charles. He's certainly a much more progressive thinker than his father was. I believe and hope he's doing it in the spirit of transparency and reparation but I think he's also quite naive. It won't take much for the press to turn on him again, that's for sure.

I am for the constitutional monarchy to remain for now. I do agree with you that i think Charles is approaching change for the right reasons, I understand and have sympathies for the republican argument, but i genuinely think that is for another day and feel Charles needs time to bring his changes about and let history judge him accordingly.

I think in time the monarchy will disappear and a republic spring forth and if we have any more Andrew or Harry’s in the younger generation then i think it will eventually seal its own fate sooner or later anyway.

I do wonder how far back slavery investigation will go - many people through out the centuries have been enslaved by people in power throughout the world.

People of all colours have been enslaved by people of all colours, power, wealth & status of the enslavers over their slaves were the defining matters of the roles..

Of couse he is inextricably linked to slavery so long as he is king and leader of the commonwealth. He might say he is doing the right thing but what about the huge wealth the crown accumulated and charles has accepted through persecution and slavery. It stinks a few words isnt going to cut it.
