Cheap Tyres vs Expensive Tyres (Car)

It's because most of the year we're only in a narrow range of between 5 and 25 degrees, for most of the country and maybe 0-30 for most of the extremes (-5 to +35 is less than 1% for most places). It's quite a narrow range, the UK is pretty much one of the safest places in the world as far as harsh weather and temperature variations go, and in the north east of England we're also in pretty much the safest part of it. A lot of European countries deal with much larger extremes than we do, and they're more common.
True but its not just snow and ice. The heavy rain and cold temperatures make summer tyres much less grippy

Goodyear or Michelin for my car , and lately ive been buying from Halfords believe it or not , my last Goodyear F1 AS5 cost me less fitted at my house by them , than I could buy wholesale from my garage retailer !!

Michelin cross climates are ideal in that scenario, no need to change. I ran them on my Volvo for 4 years with no issues.

I had these on my old mk2 Leon FR and thought they were excellent . i was gutted when i upgraded the car to a mk3 Leon Cupra and they weren't available because the alloys were bigger!

I've currently got a combination of Bridgestone Potenzas on the back and the new Michelin Pilot sport 5's on the front. the Pilot sport 5's are my new favourites!

I never go 'cheap' on tyres or brakes. They are one of the main things that keep you alive.

I have a 'sporty' little motor (MK8 Fiesta ST). It came with Michelin PS4s. That's what I use at around £110-130 a tyre. That's dependent on the usual deals. Definitely not cheap. Yet it's not like I'm buying them monthly.

Plenty of 'visual' videos on YouTube showing the difference between budget and decent. They show cars doing 30-70mph in the wet. The first runs on budget and 2nd with premium. The difference in stopping distance is stunning. Enough to make you never buy budget.

I say that. I did once out some absolute budget ones on a car I was selling. That was only to get it through an mot (some horrific ones from a unheard of brand)
