Chuba Akpom - might be leaving Ajax

Lille apparently had a 12m offer rejected as they apparently want to keep him . He’s been out for 2 games now I suspect Hel be sold if they can make a profit on him or loaned for the rest of the season .

I don't think he would be in the same place as when he took off for us anyway, if he came on loan, he's gonna be all emotionally exhausted from the last 6 months. He would likely be a passenger than talisman.

To be fair he is being kept out of the team by two players being touted for big money Premier League moves so hardly just being overlooked or ostracised.
He was bought by the recruitment team not by the manager at the time similar to Spence. That was why he had a bad start. Ajax’s problems are at the other end of the field so their poor league position shouldn’t reflect automatically to him getting a start.

We’ve got 18 games left and should be best placed to have most the squad fit depending if Mcgree is in the squad when he comes back . Mcgree , jones forss and latte will e key upfront

I actually feel really sorry for him.

Journeyman career for a decade and even nearly discarded by us, until he gets a manager who tweaks his position and out of nowhere aged 27 has the best season of his career by far, wins Champo player of the year and the golden boot, plays unbelievably well.

Financial and status reality meant he had to move. I whinged about it a lot at the time but in truth we couldn’t afford to renew his contract for the level he was playing at and it would have been reckless for us. Gets an unbelievable move, and then is straight back to being messed around, played out of position even when he can get on the pitch.

I suppose he could have halved his wage demands and stayed here where he was loved and playing brilliantly, but 10 times out of 10 you’d take the bigger money and massive club. On reflection I don’t think it was possible for him to stay. He seems a remarkably nice, level headed and professional character as well, he’s not being dropped or sent to the Greek league on loan for off the pitch issues.

If we ever get promoted, I’m sure we’ll try and bring him back.

Arsenal 0 goals
PAOK 29 goals
Middlesbrough 34 goals
Ajax 9 goals

85 career goals.. pretty sure he could rack up 15 goals this season in the champo

100 career goals and a promotion.. not bad

Not sure why this is being talked about?

We sold him to Ajax. One of the best clubs in Europe. Top teams in top European leagues are being linked with him.

Why would he come back to us (assuming we could afford him anyway)?

He was onto a good thing with us. Crazy how Ajax don’t rate him.. think he will go to Rennes.. probably wouldn’t come back. Doubt very much if we’d even have a sniff.

Yeh crazy to leave the championship for one of Europes biggest clubs. 🙄
In 1971 Ajax were - now I would put them on a par with Celtic or Rangers - not even in the top 30.

Ajax are more a selling club to teams who are regular Champions League.

Go the streets of Lagos and the kids won't fight you for a Ajax shirt.

The big money in football is in England, Spain, Italy and France.

True, to a point. They are also still fairly regular champions league participants, injury time away from the final a couple of years ago. They are much bigger and richer than us.

Going to ajax was a step forward, coming back here (though I’d love it) would be the opposite.
