Claims Akpom has gone for 2.5 million Euros

Tbf there were very few who really wanted shot. They all said along the lines of "shame it didn't work out".
I'm sure the ones with torches and pitchforks are really pleasantly surprised

I doubt I posted anything, on the topic, but I was sure he wasn't going to work out.

Oh how wrong I was 😆

Don’t think anyones opinion on him was wrong earlier in the thread, he was dreadful at that stage and offered nothing. Don’t think a single person on here would have wanted to keep him this time last year

Every boro fan was happy to see him leave. I'm glad he's here now.
I felt he could do a job in a footballing side like when wilder took over.. he always did well when the ball was on the deck. warnock used to smash it into the corners, it was never going to work for him.

This thread was during my hiatus from the board but can I just say that, although I have no proof, I was screaming at my laptop when lurking that we badly needed to keep Chuba, he was a 20 goal a season man and that he’d definitely get a hat trick on Boxing Day!
If only more had had yours and Sexpom's outstanding foresight and divine football knowledge mate, including most of our recent managers, then we'd be sat in the Prem by now.

Ah well.

Anybody that didn't write him off and wanted him to stay was an idiot. All evidence that we had seen from him across his entire career pointed to him being a mediocre championship striker at best and not someone we could expect to fire us to promotion. I'm sure everyone is delighted to see that he has proven them wrong but I think this rare occasion where that actually happens doesn't mean people's judgements are wrong.

He seems like a good bloke and I was very impressed with his attitude when he was brought back after being left out of the preseason trip. I said at the time that was wrong, not because I thought Akpom was the answer to our problems but simply because it's bad management to send such an obvious signal of not wanting a player that you might end up stuck with. It was the same for Uche.

Don't think I said anything that wasn't true at the time.

This is his best season in his entire career, and it's only just reached the halfway point.

It's a credit to Akpom that he's managed to turn it around so well.
All credit to him. I couldn't be happier to be totally wrong.

He deserves all the credit he gets.

What a really strange post. You're saying nobody could have seen something you and the majority didn't? Sounds a bit arrogant. I didn't see it back then but his display at QPR this season convinced me we had a player. I said so on the board at the time and people said I was wrong and he wasn't the answer. They could have turned out to be right, of course. Fortunately, they weren't.

What do I find sad? That on a day when we have our most convincing result of the season, reach our highest league position some sad idiot decides to resurrect an old post that was representative of its time.

The poster in question very rarely offers anything worthy of reading.

I leave it to others to draw their opinion on someone who has the massive IQ to do something like this - and so soon after the game was completed. Pathetic and juvenile in my book
That's a lot of words to say "I was wrong".

I disagree, players have ability but it’s how they are played by certain managers. Akpom has always shown that he has ability but has been played out of position it with the wrong tactical decisions.

Too true.

Me and Sexpom for the next managerial duo.

Don’t rise to it mate. It’s all a bit of fun.

Some football fans are convinced they can “spot” good and bad players etc. What those fans don’t really account for is the fact that the vast majority of players are only “good” for a few years of their career.

Whatever happens with Akpom, even if he goes on to play #10 for Man City and outshines Haaland, it doesn’t take away from the fact that he was fairly cr@p when he first came to Boro.
