Cole Palmer or Phil Foden?

That team should win a World Cup, never mind the Euros. Southgate will probably pick Rashford and Henderson though.
Apart from when someone decides to counter attack.

We can criticise Southgate's loyalty to certain players - but Mbappé and Griezmann would be kicking their chops with the space they'd get. And Pedri and Rodri would pass Rice to death.

Supposedly Gareth was thinking of not taking Cole Palmer to the Euros since we already have too much 'talent' ahead of him in his position, Sir Gareth needs to have a serious rethink. Palmer could very much be the difference between winning and losing the Euros, he has to go at least as an impact player from the bench and to step up if there's a penalty shoot out.

Amazing season by Palmer and it's refreshing to see someone leave City and flourish.

Shame it's at that scummy club, but take nothing away from Palmer, he's been incredible.

I still think the RW spot for England should be Saka's. Although Palmer's numbers have been great, Saka is still a level above.

It is brilliant to see we have so many options who are capable of filling in, if there's injuries/suspensions/lack of form etc.

We are we not allowed to have top class players on the bench.

Sick of seeing these XI's all over the internet saying this will win the euros but Southgate will stop it. No, these teams will only work on Fifa, we would get overrun in midfield if you somehow force Foden, Bellingham, Palmer and Saka into a starting 11 behind Kane.

Exactly.

I'm a Southgate apologist. But even I see that he isn't a top level manager (v few are at international level any more). His major flaw (among a few) is not being able to change a game from the bench. Having that level of quality to draw upon may mitigate against that.

Garth Crooks' opinions on anything football related can be safely ignored.

He's daft as a brush.
His opinions are as valid as anyone else's, especially given he is a former Stoke and Spurs striker with a very good record.

Though I agree that his opinions don't somehow mean Palmer is categorically better than Foden (which I don't agree with btw).

"Cole Palmer is the best talent this country has produced since Glenn Hoddle."

The quote above tells you all you need to know about Garth Crooks. He is a dinosaur and always harks back to his playing days, believing that generation of British players was superior to the worldwide talent currently playing in the Premier League. Imagine thinking that Cole Palmer is the first player England has produced since Glen Hoddle that is as talented as Glen Hoddle.

You get this in football all the time though. Pundits AND social media.

Its not long ago that Roy Keane compared some of the best striker in the world's attributes to a League One player. I'm sure I wouldn't have to trawl through this site for long to find something equally as daft (in my opinion). Keane seems to be widely 'accepted' as a pundit, others aren't, but they all come out with nonsense fairly regularly. And they're entitled to.

Doesn't mean that Palmer isn't better than Foden, just cos Garth Crooks said it. I don't think he is personally, though I'm not sure I could see Foden leading a team the way Palmer has.

Foden, Saka and Bellingham supporting Kane. Palmer an option from the bench.

International football is not basketball. The winning teams must have a balance between being about to score and not being done all the time in transition.
Yup, people still don't get it that you actually have to pick some ball winners, and unfortunately it's often more than you want to be picking.
