Neil Warnock mentioned on Friday seeing Pele play @ Sheff Wed for Santos in the 1960s. He said Colin Dobson missed a Pen in the game and quickly smiled (SU fan in him).

99.9% of Boro fans probably would say Colin who? He played for Sheff Wed, Huddersfield, Bristol Rovers in the 1960s and 70s.

As a young boy, I followed Dobson's career, because he was the cousin of the guy who took me to Boro games, before I was too old to go without an adult. Colin Dobson was born in Eston and brought up in the Eston area. I don't know if NW was aware.

I remember Colin Dobson, merely because I knew he was from Eston. His mum and dad lived on what was called Lodge Farm Estate behind Eston Square shops and the Miners Arms.

I think he was there when Big John was at Sheff Wed,

Colin Dobson was a childhood friend of my late Dad. They are the same age and went to school together. He often used to mention him.

Cheers for the comments - the family I went to Boro games under Stan Anderson and first year of Big Jack were not called Dobson, so I guess a sister of them had married into the Dobson family.

According to Wikipedia - Colin Dobson was still scouting at 73 for Stoke City in 2013.
