Coronavirus good news thread

Why do billionaires have a moral obligation to do anything with their money? That makes no sense. I don’t know how much you get paid but I’d wager it’s significantly more than starving families in South Sudan. Do you have a moral obligation to feed and clothe them?
Yes.

Good on you. I’m glad you do. How do you get your money to them?
Back to the OP: China has had ZERO new domestic cases yesterday.
According to China so all the necessary pinches of salt but still

If China is recovering now then why don't they show reports of people starting to go back to work, people in shops, empty hospital beds and busy roads.
The media were in china at the start.
The media love to peddle doom, create panic, cause worry and make the situation worse. I think Laura kuensberg actually likes to report bad news only.

I use charities that can work in different parts of the world. Christian charities can get to most countries but not in some Muslim countries, except during emergencies when there is unified organisational help.

It actually shocked me. Well impressed by the Italians.
Germans doing well with their mortality rate so far too. Agreed. I can only think healthcare is a reason? Maybe different ways of socialising too? They certainly don’t have the healthiest of diets.
Not sure if it was posted on here but did you see that the contestants of German Big Brother had no idea what was happening? They told them all yesterday. That must have seemed like a terrible, terrible joke to them all
heard this on the radio yesterday and the first thing that popped into my head was at least they’ve been isolating.

Have a look on YouTube for DW news. It's a German broadcast and they have been in China and reporting back on how it is slowing getting its factories up and running again.

One of the most enlightening pieces I have seen is the news coming out of Vo in Italy.

It's a small town of 3300 people and the local university tested every citizen as part of a study.
This highlighted who had it and more importantly, who was asymptomatic (showing no signs of infection despite being infected and capable of passing the virus on).
Over a period of time, isolation measures and retesting they showed that the infection rate went to zero.
Obviously a small scale exercise, but as an educational device for how important self-isolation and social distancing are in the absence of 100% testing it needs to be broadcast to a much larger audience.

Vo go to zero

So a local university can test every citizen. Sounds a good model here.

As long as the tests are available of course.

It's the lesson of self-isolation and social distancing that needs to reach a wider audience though.

When it comes to money there gets a point when you have more than enough to fill your own ambitions. Then there comes a point when the majority of that money will end up with the government in taxes. I wouldn't trust a government to spend that money wisely.

Someone who wants to build a spaceship probably doesn’t have enough to fulfil their ambitions I would have thought.

Good news from a Brexit point of view.

Michel Barnier has it. Let's ramp up negotiations now, whilst they are weak.

Good news - no new cases in China should be big news - we are 7 to 8 weeks behind them, but if we can get to no new cases by the second week of May that would be good news too.

I do think there is some planning going on to minimise death rates. In the past it tended not to happen. In 1918 people were only told 4.5 months into the Spanish Flu virus that it existed in the UK.

Was reading about the Spanish flu. It just wasn't reported in the press. There were wartime restrictions of media in force and the casualties were lost amongst the war dead. It's called Spanish flu as there were no such media restrictions in Spain due to them being neutral, so everyone thought it was mainly happening over there.

So they are all ok at the moment, but eviction is going to put them in danger? Spicing things up like Hunger Games or Running Man (y)
