Coughing

Anyone else experienced bouts of coughing that is that bad that you almost knock yourself out,it's been literally non stop for 2 weeks, been to the doctors twice and been given 2 sets of antibiotics with zero improvement.
Most horrendous sore throat and chest ever, feel incredibly nauseous also.
Feel a bit of a fraud going to the hospital with these symptoms but I've never felt so ill,it feels like I've done some lung damage through constant coughing, I've done a Covid test and that's came back negative.

About six weeks ago I started with an irritating dry cough, didn't feel "ill" as such but it would wake me up in coughing fits in the night and after about four weeks it was wearing me down. I rang my GP and saw a nurse practitioner (fat chance of seeing a doc) and he gave me some good advice which might help you.

Try taking an antihistamine like "Beconase", the cough is caused by something irritating your nasal passages or throat so the antihistamine will stop that. And it worked a treat, after only three days I was hardly coughing and most importantly sleeping through the night. You can buy Beconase over the counter and I think I found it in Lidl(?) might be worth a try.

I had a cough, runny nose, aches and pains, elevated temperature etc a few weeks back. Still got the occasional coughing fit, but it is getting less frequent.

There was a virus going round in January time which was referred to as ‘the 30 day cough’ cos it proved so hard to shift. I know a few who had it. I know that does not offer you any help though, sorry.

Hope you are well again soon. Look after yourself.

Had 6 colds since January, one in particular I thought I might have to go to hospital, my coughing was relentless and felt like I was coughing my guts up, someone mentioned hay-fever which is similar to a cold, might try anti allergy tabs.

Just to be clear Beconase is not an antihistamine it's a steroid nasal spray.

I've taken Beconaise for hay fever before, think it's sold as nasal spray and antihistamine ,thanks for all the replies.

Go back to the doctors, that doesn’t sound right. You can’t nag them too much.

This.
I was like that last October, nauseous and puking up; ended up getting a blood test and that showed I had pneumonia.

Just entering my 4th week with similar symptoms to those described above. A week ago I was coughing so bad my brain hurt. The cough has eased off a lot with antibiotics but it hasn't gone, nor has the sore throat and general feeling of lethargy. The nurse practitioner I saw mentioned the "100 day cough" which doesn't bode well. :(

I read somewhere that it was a bout of whooping cough, or at least that's what it's used to be known as, not sure how accurate that is.

I got it at New Year and still have an irritating cough now - three to four months isn't uncommon apparently

My FiL had it recently, coughed so much he's given himself a back injury!!

Not sure how widespread it is, me, wife and kids all have a heavy cold this week, banging headache, sore throat, lots of congestion, but no cough.

I have had Whooping Cough since December and it’s only just getting better now (They seem to prefer calling it the 100 day cough now, but it’s the same thing).
I was really bad in January with it and I actually passed out 4 or 5 times whilst coughing, I banged my head and bruised my arm whilst passing out too.
It’s not nice, but there has been an epidemic over the last few months, and Doctors are supposed to report any people with it as it is a notifiable disease, however, they don’t seem to be doing this in all cases !
