Coulson loaned to Blackpool

Could never understand why we brought him back, and gave him a new contract.
But deserves a chance somewhere else, so good luck to him , hope it works out.

Some people just have no class.
The only reason I should care is if we get a decent fee for him if Blackpool want to make it permanent.

He's probably the worst left back i've seen play for us (and at one point there was some tough competition for that accolade.)

I remember watching a Boro pre-season game away at Gateshead a few years ago. Coulson and Djed Spence were youngsters and played superbly that night on the flanks. But what impressed me afterwards was while the first team squad waited for the luxury coach to pick them up. Coulson walked across to a battered old Ford parked in the public car park and presumably drove back to his parents house.

Wasn't even third choice left back, VDB and O'Brien were better options than him there. League 1 seems a bit too high for him as well.
I've been fighting this battle since his run in the side back in 19/20 season. He'd had a few games here and there, and due to circumstances got a run in the first team. He was 22 back then, hardly a raw youngster, but he was miles behind where he should have been and it was clear that the day would come when he would drop down the leagues. Next year he will in league two, and then after that he could be off to some foreign backwaters. He hasn't progressed since he was 17 and he's 25 now

Coulson cup tied. He came on as late sub v Villa. Sorry repeating message from above.
But a shame there is some vitriol on this thread I really cannot think why people would be annoyed at a local layer that has tried his best.
Even if he hadn't played for Boro v Villa he would still be ineligible as he wasn't a Blackpool player when original tie played. Barnsley kicked out of cup for not realising this

Saw a fair bit of him in our youth teams and always thought he, along with Dael Fry, looked most likely to make the step up although he played further forward then. Did well when he first came in under Woodgate and was a bit unlucky with injuries if I remember right, then once Warnock was in it was obvious he never really fancied him. Not many players do well bouncing around on loan season after season but hopefully he settles somewhere soon as there's deffo a player in there.

How many times have we all said this? :)

But, good luck to the lad. I always want a team of local lads so I still wish it works out for him with us.

He's from Gateshead and a Newcastle fan, probably stretching the definition of local.

Agree entirely. Forgot about that. Would have been good for a Boro lad to knock out the Trees.
I think the lad's alright. He hasn't had the breaks he's hoped for. Sometimes a change in Manager, trouble in dressing rooms and all manner of issues at footy clubs can affect a player's career.

same pre season he and spence played at Bishop ... Coulson was on fire and scored a brilliant goal running through the middle

Had some bad luck with injuries hasn’t he. Also liked his tenacity and hopefully he has a good loan spell there which leads to a move somewhere where he will get regular first team football.
