Covid: "UK’s worst ever public health failures’:1000s unnecessary lost lives [Media]

I remember arriving into Gatwick just a week before the lockdown was announced and there was no signage about washing hands, social distancing etc. This was after spending two weeks in the U.S. where it was all over the news every single day.

This report is why he's gone on holiday, isn't it? There is no way he did not know this was coming out this week.

Read this on Twitter this morning.

Just appalling. What sort of country have we become?

The kind of country that we have become is one that voted for an utter clown and didn't care of the consequences because he promised to get something done that his predecessor couldn't.

It can all be traced right back to Cameron and the start of this last Tory spell. They have done untold damage to the UK yet there still seems to be a majority of Tory voters who would rather sit with their fingers in their ears whilst their friends and family suffer around them than admit they were sold a pup.

I'm ashamed to be British and have been for some time. I saw all this coming back in 2016. The pandemic just sped it up.

A modern problem is the 'post truth' business. It has become almost taken for granted for facts to be denied. Politicians regularly look down the lens and deny truth and lie to people.
This report will be water off a ducks back just as it was when the poisonous little brexit turd cummings had his time. anything he did was denied and when he turned on them it was old news quickly.
the idiots do not run the country to do good. they do it for power and usually end up personally benefitting with £millions for lobbying and/or out and out corruption.

I have thought for years that corruption or gross incompetence in public office should be subject to proper accountability by an independent judiciary. resignations should not be be enough.

On LBC this morning it's the topic, but they are asking is it labours fault for not providing better opposition.
Not a day goes by when they don't go out to bat for the tories
I mean, it doesn't help when the likes of Stamer, Philips, Hodge & Streeting are fighting against their own..

The choice of being a grown up, making concessions, thinking for yourself.. or just throwing the baby out with the bathwater and voting for a clown hiding in a fridge BLAH, BLAH, BLAH - we had a chance voting for Labour in 2019 but it seemed too much like hard work. Holding people to account and voting for things.

Labour was never winning. The clown played a blinder unfortunately and ended up with an 80 seat majority as we all know.

The other big failure was to not shut down misinformation, or at least have a weekly brief that ripped into the claims made by Icke, Shemirani, Ivor Cummin, Mike Yeadon etc that used actual science and evidence to show reality.

The removal of the need to wear masks will have a detrimental effect on the figures in the coming weeks. It already is. Scotland had to reintroduce them. Schools it seems are having to take severe measures as the rates start to climb again.

Email for school this afternoon - masks for all pupils and teachers from tomorrow after a massive rise in cases. Also testing everyday.

It was confirmed today that Johnson knew this report was being published this week.
