Criticism of the club and chairman

I don't think I've ever criticised Gibson really, however, with the abject performances on the pitch and whatever the hell is going on behind the scenes, its getting farcical.

Rewind to the McClaren era, we had a vibrant and productive youth set up, a bouncing Riverside punching above our weight.

Decision after decision has been made poorly, we just seem to have had a complete breakdown throughout our entire infrastructure.

Scouting is completely abysmal, compare this to Southampton or Leicester who dropped deep in to the depths - they picked players and sold for massive fees whilst building a solid club.

What on earth is going on?

Why is our club being run so poorly?

I can't get my head round it.

We've had a little bit of positivity in Karanka's time - which we managed to **** up, (yes I know he walked out before Charlton, but why did he walk out?).

Something needs to change, it feels like we're just rotting away.

And, before anyone pipes up about the 80's, that's over 30 years ago now, so no, we're not "lucky" to still have a club.

Ask a Bolton fan.

That said there isn't a lot of good news to be had. I think the youth system is still working. Fry, Woods, Tavernier, Pears - not a bad contribution. It has been our buying that has been our failing. We have consistently paid too much for "ordinary". I'm one of the few on here that likes Fletcher but we paid far too much for him. Britt was probably what we had to pay and then you've got Saville and other rank ordinary footballers cluttering up the subs bench.

To me this is the area that needs addressing.

That and Woodgate needs to either pick his "best" eleven and stick with it or make some better choices when trying to pick a side to beat a certain opposition. The starting eleven yesterday was just gob smackingly stupid. The second half side and shape was far better. George isn't a full back any more and then left out Roberts, Spence, Fletcher and Assombalonga all of whom looked sharper and fitter than the starters they replaced. My only concern with Roberts is, a bit like Traore, he is likely to get sent off but God love him he tries.

I like Fletcher as well and agree we paid too much. He's often been used out wide and that's never worked. He's a forward.

I think Woodgate, like his boss, tries to be experimental but fails consistently.

We are going through a bad patch, I was expecting about 14th this season and a season of rebuilding. Some poor transfer decisions from Jan 2017 is one major issue which has lead to transfer deficits in every transfer window since the Summer of 2017. Lack of funds will make attracting established managerial talent much more difficult.

In the golden seasons we were spending relatively much more on wages and transfers. The likes of Hasselbaink, Viduka, Zenden were big signings and I expect big wages. To be a solid Premiership side you have to spend quite big.

On the positive some good youngsters have come through this season.

We should be a top 6 Championship based on history, size of the club, but clubs like us can yo-yo look at Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton. All similar size clubs.

We have to get more cleverer at using the resources we do have, for example spreading them out more evenly, picking up decent loan players, keep developing young players.

Really accurate post, knows his club its people too, well said Muttley.

'Tony has ensured that the club is stable and strong for the future, he leaves us in excellent condition,' says the Boro chairman

Just let that sink in for a moment.

Wasn’t very accurate at all.

Fry is the most overrated player to come out of the academy in its history. Pears is a decent back up keeper. Wood it’s too early to say but he needs to bulk up to play consistently for the boro. Tav can’t nail down a position in of the worst midfield in recent history.

Agree with what he said about Woodgate but his very job is to do the things he listed but he isn’t good enough too, and who put Woodgate in that position? Oh yes it was Steve can’t have a bad word said about him Gibson.

Gibson needs to act fast or this “experiment“ is going to cost him an absolute fortune.

i can’t think of a worse starting 11 than yesterday’s shambolic attempt. The other thing I noticed yesterday was the total lack of interest from Woodgate, he just stood there with his hands in his pockets.

If we stick with him, i can’t see any other outcome than relegation.

He doesn’t look arsed does he, just stood there with his legs spread apart . Never seen him once look even remotely bothered about the result.

I think through experience it seems accurate to me, I can remember people didnt rate Mowbray for his first 4 seasons, and David Mills was berated for longer.

I don't expect wholesale changes for Stoke - that would be admitting he got the lineup totally wrong against Swansea.

Has Moukoudi been lined up for a transfer somewhere else ? And the buying club dont want him playing for us ? Just a thought.

Hit the nail on the head here, Ben Gibson is the last decent prospect to be brought through IMO, coulson and Spence could be good but Tav is bang average and very inconsistent
