Crystal Palace - Bigger than Boro?

Palace are an established Premier League Club - we are not. They have funding we can only dream of. They have high quality players worth multi millions, we do not. If we played them 10 times in a row we would be lucky to win one or two games. If you offered a high quality player the chance to sign for us or Palace we would miss out every time. Boro is our club and we love them but at the moment Palace are a bigger club than us.

I would agree that presently Palace are a more attractive proposition for a player than Boro, but overall based on our respective histories we are a bigger club for all of the reasons @indeedido listed.

We're a bigger club than Palace, without a doubt.

We're similar in size to the likes of Stoke, Southampton and Derby. They're similar in size to clubs such as Fulham and Watford.

We're starting to sound like those 35 miles up the road in this thread. We added a lot of success to our history in the 90's/00's that the vast majority of English clubs would be jealous of, but where have we been since 2008? Until we get back into the PL and cement our place there, any continuation of that success (and therefore stating we're a bigger club) is on hold.

Historically we are a bigger club than palace , more seasons in top flight , bigger crowds , more cup finals , however they are more attractive at present due to prem status . 15 years ago i would have classed Boro as bigger than leicester but they are on a different level to us now especially with proposed ground development . Sunderland cling onto 'big club' status by being one of two clubs in a heavily populated area , otherwise they'd be another Huddersfield or Preston . Status of clubs continually evolves IMO not that it greatly matters

In my lifetime West Ham have spent time in the Champ on numerous occasions and have won absolutely nothing. If not for the FA they would've been relegated again for the Tevez saga. Granted they have a huge stadium they are paying a fortune for but they average 44,000 in a huge area compared to where we draw our fans from, they also have a huge amount of money due to being in Prem. Haven't won anything since the 80s.
So you are saying they have a bigger ground, bigger support base have miles more cash and are in a better league yet we are on a par with them?

West Ham are a much bigger Club than Crystal Palace, on any metric.

Honours.
Historical status.
Current status.
Fan base.
Stadium size.
Crowd potential.
Turnover and commercial power.
Player history.
International players.
Media status.

It is sheer stupidity to make a claim they are anything like the same.

This thread is getting a bit confusing. Are we talking about now, historically or potentially? Palace are bigger now - we were bigger for the glory years of Robson / McLaren when we attracted world class players. If we ever got back to near full houses, a good run in the EPL, attractive to the best players we have the potential to go back ahead of Palace but that is a if.

It is only getting confusing to you.
