Dan Badpasser

This is precisely the type of match you should be hoofing your thread after
Woeful when he came on - most passes either to a Norwich player or went to a different Boro player than the one he intended to pass to

We won the game because Howson was back
Failing to find your own players with pass after pass is not playing well.
Keeping possession when needing the 3 points is quite important
If ever you needed evidence that some people on here just have it in for certain players and see what they want to see irrespective of whether it actually happened, here it is right here in these two posts.

Literally one pass out of 36 that didn’t go to a Boro player. What a wasteful donkey!

Engel is the same, look at some of the comments before the equaliser!
The difference being the stats back up that Engel was poor last night. 19 misplaced passes and I would bet 15 of those were in the first half hour because like everyone else, he settled into the game after the red card and played much better.

Him and Ayling were both terrible when we were 11v11

Didn't even notice him do anything wrong last night to be honest. Game was dead when he came on and he just settled in and played keep ball with the others
Games like last night suit him perfectly, got the freedom of the Riverside to pick out his passes. I don't care what anyone says, he is technically the best passer of the ball at the football club. He just can't cope under pressure and being rushed forces him to make mistakes regularly.

He did play some hospital balls in the first 30 minutes. He was also instrumental in one of only 2 good moves in that first 30 minutes.

A couple of things to add. When we play out he always makes himself available which isn't true of all our players. His ball across the penalty area was absolutely terrible though

He has come from a very different league and needs a season to adapt.

Is he worth the risk? Well if Carrick believes he will improve then probably.

In the final third he does play some nice through balls and balls across the box, It's the one part of his game I think he plays at the level we need.

I think we'll look to replace him in the summer. Carrick keeps trying to replace him but Bangura is made of glass and can't string more than 3 starts together in a row and Thomas is somehow equally as poor.

Carrick may well look to replace him. That he played Thomas for 2 starts suggests it's possible.

I'm no Barlaser fan but he didn't do anything wrong when he came on. I'd even said it was probably the perfect game for him in the last 30 mins as there was no pressure/press coming from Norwich which is where he struggles. Maybe it'll give him a bit of confidence.

He absolutely gave the ball away more than once last night

One big reason we didn't lose last night was because Howson was back

If he was booed by so called fans coming on last night however....well I'd rather he was at Boro and not them

I don’t think he did give the ball away more than once tbh

Barlaser is like Lewis Wing, for all his positive positive traits he essentially plays the game like a 38 yr old with no cartilage in his knees!

He has zero dynamism to move quickly into positions to create angles to receive the ball when we are in possession and out of possession he is unable to press or protect the back four quickly enough as he can't recover his position on the transition.

This is more damaging than his tendency to hit some misplaced passes, as he has shown, he does have a pass in his locker, but clearly his confidence is on the floor at present which is exacerbating issues.

he looked a lot better playing 30/40 yards up the pitch rather than receiving the ball under pressure on his own penalty spot

Game was finished when he came on. Not sure why the critics are after him following last nights performance (for 20 minutes!!!). Norwich resorted to damage limitation and didn't attack anything following our third goal.

Whats funny is when we losing, there are 250+ comments on FB posts from MFC. When we win, it rarely hits 50. Gobshytes.

People show him a massive lack of a respect on here and it’s disappointing, he makes mistakes yes but he’s a boro player and does not deserve all the vitriol.

He has had the occasional decent game but on balance over the time he has been here I think he has been poor. He is however our poor player. Don't think I have ever singled out and booed one of our own individually.

That's what you should do at 3-1 up, keep possession. F*ck me, idiots everywhere.
Not really because showing his passing stats as a fact when someone is playing passes to someone three yards back and forth for no reasons inflates the point that he 'had a good game/did well.' There was was a wild pass he played across the pitch to literally no one but wouldn't be picked up by the stat men because luckily we had three at the back so one (possibly Engel) was able to rescue it from going out or to a Norwich player. Stats don't prove what actually happened. So no, not idiots everywhere.
