Darren Grimes

How to dissect this one…

The posters above who mention bullying are correct. It’s awful and can impact people into adulthood. If Grimes was bullied as a child that’s tragic.

Grimes the adult repeatedly and knowingly spouts quite divisive stuff. He also repeatedly gets pulled up on it but never retracts or apologises. He’s a troll with an audience and it’s hard to feel much sympathy for people with audiences who act in this way. I say this as someone who sees this kind of behaviour (mostly on Twitter) from left and right, some of the novara media lot like to be divisive because it gets attention and clicks. Grimes is a right wing, tweet-before-thinking, thick as mince manchild, just like Bastani is his left wing mirror image.

Finally, if it’s true he was tossing off in school… well it’s pretty oddball and at 14 your peers aren’t going to let that go quietly are they, no matter how many anti-bullying classes they sit through? If it wasn’t true and he got bullied for it, well he deserves some sympathy for that at least.

Can't say I agree to be honest

Children (including my own) go through some of the most awful bullying at school. Leading to self harming, long standing MH issues and in extreme cases suicide. It is not ok in any walk of life to bully. If this is man was called that at school... then that is bullying.

I imagine for any adult who has gone through school life being bullied to have that brought into their adult life would only bring back the most awful of memories. If it's not true then it is still bullying no different to a lie being said about anybody in their past life which would bring embarrassment.

When you see the outcome of bullying to the affect it had one of my children you may not find it so funny. I presume this man has a different political opinion and therefore it is ok to laugh and make jokes. Same as a racist wouldn't crack jokes about someone with the same colour skin of them but would make fun of the opposite.

I think you make some very good and well argued points and I'm sorry to hear your kids have been bullied, that's horrible for them and probably feels even worse when you're the parent.
I suppose the key question is though, if somebody has bullied and belittled others for years with impunity is it really bullying if they suddenly get a taste of their own medicine? Really I think for somebody to be bullied that person must be to some extent innocent and undeserving of that treatment. If for example the people who've bullied your kids got a bit of stick back wouldn't you feel a tiny bit glad about it? I think i would but maybe that's just how I see it.

I completely understand your point and you make some good points also.

My view is childhood bullying can be the worst and leave lasting mental scars forever. I don't believe anyone should be basically teased about something they did as a child when they are now an adult. I also think its highly unlikely it ever happened looking back at some of the horrendous names and stories people got stuck with at school which nearly all of them fabricated.

Imagine having your childhood ruined with a made up story and then for adults to repeat it when you have grownup. I jus find it unpleasant
