Daughter's prom at St James'Park tonight...

Prom...................................whatever next. On another post tonight someone said "when America sneezes, Britain catches a cold" ;). Perfect example of this. At least your daughter and her friends saw through the nonsense. (y)

Least they had a good Park night... You don't need a posh frock (sound like my dad) and a prom for a good time.

Just an 'old school Park' with mates 👌

I've seen a few of my mates posting pictures of daughters going to the prom on Facebook. Just seems odd. It's clearly an American 'thing'. I imagine so much pressure with clothing / hair and date etc.

Thank god they never had them in my day. I'd defo be the bloke without a date and turning up in jeans and t shirt lol

Always amazes me what winds people up. It's a party. It's not "American *****". It's kids enjoying themselves. The first time they get a chance to have a night out like adults instead of a school disco.

In any case, they aren't new. We had one 20 years ago and they weren't new then either.

...they thought it was shight and ended up in Leazes Park with some cans.
Parenting complete.
This is good news for you. When it comes to a future possible wedding , to keep your cost down you can point to cans in the park - as a viable alternative to a posh reception 🤔

Hopefully she called it Sid James Park, St James Park is home to the mighty Grecians! Am not bitter, but I hope they get a really tough Champions League group.

America copied off our university promenade balls in the 1800s and it filtered down to their secondary type schools and back home to our school leaving parties.
