Deal accepted for Morgan Rogers.

Been reported at £16 million with £10 million up front.

Good luck to Rogers. He is a quality player and has loads of potential. I hope he gets game time at Villa, as otherwise the potential will not be realised.

🤦wehey a poultry 10 mil profit with no guarantee we will replace him with same quality.

If it was that easy to replace villa would have grabbed the next potential. When you catch one you have to milk it. Sold far far too early and for too little.

Summer would be more money, helps us for rest of season, but guess the club think playoffs aren't possible this season or they've got something special player wise lined up that a premier league club in villa have missed.

Great from us - We will end up with about 6m profit which in the grand scheme of things is fantastic. If he does poorly then his value will be at least less this figure we’re supposedly getting
It’s only good if we spend it well. This is the first sign of progress in terms of picking up a young lad, developing him and then selling for huge profit. The trick is to keep doing it and that is the hardest bit. And now we’ve got £10m+ in the bank but a threadbare attack. It’s up in the air really for me, this. It’s nice to see money coming in but there’s loads of issues to address.

Yeah this lad Wharton from Blackburn, Palace just signed for £22M how does that stack up? If that's got add ons and sell ons we've undersold surely?

Seems a decent deal - if he does well we get paid, if he doesnt we've got £10m from a player who cost us nob all. If he becomes a superstar we get a future cut. He's happy and the club stays solvent and within FFP.

Everyones a winner baby!

I think the way to look at this, and get an objective feel for how much he is worth to us in the context of where we are in our league is to imagine that he had had the half season he has had for one of our rivals, say West Brom. Half decent, but only a regular who has shown potential for the last two months.

If we would not think of paying this for such a player, and we surely would not remotely think of doing so, then he just isn’t worth that to us, and the offer becomes an offer we can’t refuse. Turning it down in the hope that he might be worth more one day is a kind of sunk costs fallacy in reverse and is not something we can afford.

It can still be cracking business for Villa as well though, because they can afford that sort of amount as a punt. It can still be cracking business for Villa as well though, because they can afford that sort of amount as a punt that’s the reality of the difference between where we are and where they are

From an FFP perspective this is brilliant business. Signed him on a 3 year deal for 1.5m. So 500k on FFP this year. Turned that into 8.1m incoming on the FFP, with the potential for another 4m in the future, and any future sell on after that.

He's been a massive boost, both on the field and on the FFP calc. If this is our Ollie Watkins sale, we've done it in 6 months, not 2 years. So that is a huge leap forward. Now we need our Ivan Toney signing to really move us forward.

It took Brentford six 8-figure sales over about 5 years to build their squad up. We've had Rogers (10m+), Chuba (12m+), Spence (12m), Tav (10m), all within 18 months or so, that's a real strong FFP position we are in now to invest in talent.

Is it just me that is puzzled by people saying we haven't got time to spend the money or we now need to go and find a replacement.

Do we really think the recruitment team sit on their hands until we sell someone. We will have a constantly evolving list of potential targets across all positions ready to go with likely initial interest already expressed, either via scouts or agents.

Just because the normal punter doesn't see the cogs turning in the background it doesn't mean they aren't.

We will have a likely replacement lined up. If he comes, great if not then save the money for the right man in the Summer. But whether it's the first or last day of the transfer window we always have time.
