Deal accepted for Morgan Rogers.

Good fee but we have lost our top assister so we need a replacement for sure. Personally sad to see him go. More so than any of our loanees last season. He was a proper Boro player and improved by us. Good luck son.

Is that Blackburn player any better then him to cost 20 million ?
different role, but Wharton has been a regular for 18 months and he's still only 19. Any teenager that plays week in week out at this level is very, very talented

Is it just me that is puzzled by people saying we haven't got time to spend the money or we now need to go and find a replacement.

Do we really think the recruitment team sit on their hands until we sell someone. We will have a constantly evolving list of potential targets across all positions ready to go with likely initial interest already expressed, either via scouts or agents.

Just because the normal punter doesn't see the cogs turning in the background it doesn't mean they aren't.

We will have a likely replacement lined up. If he comes, great if not then save the money for the right man in the Summer. But whether it's the first or last day of the transfer window we always have time.
Exactly this. The Rogers sale has been in prospect for a couple of weeks now at least. We may or may not bring someone in with the money because they have to be the right fit and available but contingency planning will have been going on in the background I'm sure.

STOP TALKING SENSE YOU BELLEND!

It’s only good if we spend it well. This is the first sign of progress in terms of picking up a young lad, developing him and then selling for huge profit. The trick is to keep doing it and that is the hardest bit. And now we’ve got £10m+ in the bank but a threadbare attack. It’s up in the air really for me, this. It’s nice to see money coming in but there’s loads of issues to address.
Sorry it was a tongue in cheek response to the earlier poster s***ing their pants.

It's one that could go both ways really we spend it well, we waste it, he turns out great or he turns out rubbish... thats football, im not really that fussed hes left.

Looking at the facts he's been here 6 months, played well in the cup against lower opposition and one game against villa. Been up and down in the league some sparks of real talent and some really awful performances.

The issue we need to address for me is inconsistency especially as it seems to be against poorer sides which i think can be fixed with the current squad once we get a settled team.

The money is great and i think we will spend it more responsibly than the past, i dont see us just blowing it on 1 or 2 players.

its 100% true, this board was awash with people moaning about how crap he was. Same as with Engel and VDB.

Some folks have selective memories, or they just love misery.

True for a very small % of fans - but those same fans have the same opinion on any player after he's had a bad game...

Some of us always liked Rogers - This post was after his 2nd game.

Very disappointed, but I suppose it keeps us going as a football club.
Lets hope its not the John Neal type of ending by the summer. I thought we might make progress, settle some players in and get the experience they need and perhaps have a real go next season.
I suppose we still can but its a very tough ask nowadays, be a fight to hang on to anything that shines.

Sorry this isn’t a good deal.

If that's the deal then it will be disappointing.

Will feel a bit bittersweet if we eventually end up receiving the add-ons as well, as that will most likely mean Rogers will be doing well, and on the right tracks to fulfil his potential.

In an ideal world it would have been brilliant if we'd have been able to keep him for another full season at least, and sell him for a much higher fee further down the line, but I suppose it is what it is.

So we either have about £6m to spend if it's £8m up front, or about £7.5m if it's £!0m up front, once you remove City's cut. F*cking sh*te deal either way, honestly.

This was a team in the top four of the Premier League apparently desperate to sign our player, to the point all we kept hearing was about how he's their number one priority. Comparatively you have a team in a relegation battle suddenly popping up with a bid for Adam Wharton at £18m right out of the gate. So what we have to show for it is about £7.5m up front at best, and then "possible add-ons" down the line, that potentially might not even come to pass.

And this was us apparently playing hard ball.

No wonder there's Villa fans replying to all these tweets about it saying they've scammed us.
