I think part of the reason Everton haven’t been using him is that they would owe another payment to spurs

I think they owe £10m if he makes 20 appearances, so can’t imagine with Everton’s financial and league situation they are prepared to risk it.

Wonder if they could renegotiate with the nice amenable guy, Levy at White Heart lane

I hope he is not setting himself up for a further failure with stuff like this and he is being councilled well.

It's good to set goals/ targets, but he needs to be aiming for pitch time consistently first before aiming higher.

Must be frustrating as a player to not be allowed pitch time due to an appearance payment if you have hopes of rekindling a career.

The interview with Gary Neville was done after intensive therapy got him to the point where he was ready to go public with his struggles after years of issues and sleeping pill addictions. It seemed very much like a huge weight had been lifted and he was determined to get back to work. Obviously there are ups and downs and the appearance fee issue hasn’t helped but it seemed like he would be ready to play soon. Hopefully he can get a pre season in and show what he’s capable of.

As I pointed out on the Spence thread, we never really know what is going on in someone’s head or what they have experienced.

The pile ons can get a bit uncomfortable when a player loses form / motivation. It’s often far too simplistic to say they are a “bad apple”.
