Democracy

I don't see the relevance. This is about federal v state law. What that does not point out is the unvaccinated passengers are far more restricted on board.

Yeah I really don’t see the point of that post at all or the point it’s supposed to be making.

It's relevant as it's an opposition. Something the UK is severely lacking. The current government does what it wants when it wants and nobody does anything about it.

Hence my OP. We do not have a functioning democracy. And it’s getting worse.

It is. I agree with you.
But whilst the most likely opposition continues to agree and vote with the current government or abstain instead of coming up with viable alternatives people won't vote them in.

It wouldn’t make any difference anyway. FPTP sees to that. And even that is being rigged even further with the changing of constituency lines.

Chesham and Amersham has shown what can happen though. We must all vote tactically. First step in restoring democracy is getting out the people who are so methodically destroying it

Was going to add exactly that. An opposition coalition and tactical voting is the only way forward otherwise we will continue to have minority Tory governments.

Hence why I said I'd hold my nose and vote Lib Dem the other day.

Do you think PR works in Belgium a country where no one voted for runs the country? Italy a country with too many PMs I can bothered to count, France with Le Pen?

One thing about FPTP we have never had the German Nazis

Two thirds of the autocratic, corrupt nations in Europe have FPTP (UK and Belarus) that would suggest it’s easier for the cheats to get in using that system.

You really don’t have a clue. We stand almost alone in Europe in using the archaic and grossly unfair FPTP system. Belarus, a country which essentially has a dictatorship and France, a country using still a much more representative version of FPTP, are the only other countries that don’t have PR in one form or another.

We have a system in which a party can get 40% of the vote and somehow end up with an 80 seat majority giving them absolute power and control. Only a moron would think that is a good, democratic system.
