Derby Country situation

What game are the admin playing here?

1. They blame boro for not being able to sell the club or name a preferred bidder.

2. The refuse to sell real assets in Jan.

3. They missed deadlines to provide proof of funds to sustain until the end of the season.

4. Their communications with fans is non existent until they published an open letter today claiming to be in talks with multiple bidders.

I get the feeling that the admin are working for themselves and not the club. Or possibly Morris is pulling the strings still. It's not how typical admins operate when taking a club over.

I wonder if the bids to date havent been high enough to satisfy HMRC so the admin literally havent been able to do anything. Which hints that Steve Gibson knew what he was talking about on his statement. Or could be the interested parties are waiting to see what league they are in as that will effect the value of the club. Its certainly an expensive acquisition when you look at the debt they need to take on or pay off, as it stands the club have next to no assets either, they dont own the stadium and will only have 4 players under contract come the end of the season.

I think they are in serious trouble of going under in the summer, if relegated, which seems very likely, they will have about 5 players contracted, of which about 3 are worth anything and might need to be sold. They woll have debts worth about 2 or 3 times the value of the club, and a stadium that belongs to someone else.

If they don't go under I would expect a team full of kids and cheap freebies, a very small squad, the U23s being disbanded and renting at Notts County's ground.

any potential buyer would be mad, because they're gonna be in tier 3 and still under embargos and if the debts are paid, including football debt, that will all carry on in FFP for several more years which will hinder what a new owner can pump in to get them promoted.

They keep hammering the EFL.... Yet it's the EFL who keep extending the deadline. I'd just tell them to 'do one' as they keep failing to meet them.

It's basically gone from Gibson to the EFL to basically anyone. I'm surprised a random HRMC employee isn't getting grief 😂

What are they selling?

No stadium
No training ground
Half a dozen or so contracted players
A shed load of debt
A place in League One
A further 15 point deduction next season if they fail to honour current debts (which are still accruing)

Oh, nearly forgot, the name "Derby County Football Club"

I have no idea why there isn't a queue of billionaires outside PP...

Festy Ebolse leaving.

Canny player.. looks like they might fall at the last hurdle if that carries on.

The administration’s do not have the best interests of the club (company) at heart.. they are looking to squeeze as much money out of the situation as they can.

Please forgive my lack of knowledge here, but were the administrators directly appointed by Mel Morris; or was he out of the picture by then? I really want to blame him…

I would be happy for us to take Eiran Cashin off their hands. Out of contract at the end of the season.

£30m offer on the table from one of the bidders.

Football debt needs paying in full, circa £10m.

£4m for the administrators.

£16m to cover the remaining debt including £30m to HMRC, £20m for the stadium and £10m for others.

And once they have a deal with the creditors, then the EFL and members need to agree. I know for a fact the HMRC debt is incredibly contentious for the EFL clubs given the scale of the benefit if they can escape it and I’m assuming there will be significant negotiation required as to where Derby start even if an agreement is reached. There’s no way MA will be bidding anywhere near £30m if the club has stringent budgetary restrictions placed upon it lasting for numerous seasons.

The EFL want to save Derby however need to be fair to all other clubs. I think they’ll be liquidated and end up via negotiation in League 2, then be subject to severe constraints for a number of years - otherwise it’s open season.

I won’t mention the ground…..
£20m for he stadium? Thought it was worth £80m?

They seem to blame the EFL for not stopping them cheating with regards to amortisation and selling pride park.

It must be a bit disappointing reading that Chelsea had 35 bidders and sold in a week 😂.

I mean Gibson walked away 7 weeks ago and still no takeover.
