Derby to pay Richard Keogh £2m

I don't think this is good news at all.
£2 million will hurt Derby but it won't stop any club doing the same in future.
Those caught cheating have to give the money back. So what?
Those that don't get caught keep the money and can buy an England international striker.
Next time they will just be a bit cleverer about how they do it.
But I don't really believe in a points deduction for off the field antics.either.
I think that would just spoil the game even more.
So I don't know what the answer is.
Why can't we just be able trust people in our sport to behave honourably.

I'm sorry but it just looked genuinely unlawful when they did it. They retained the two younger players who had more value.

Then sacked him due to wages and the fact he was injured. Then said it's because he was captain and should be the example.

You had to sack them all or none of them. I have absolutely no sympathy. Just seemed bizzare at the time and something that would come back and bite them.

If I can see that then you'd think they have a very well payed legal team who could😂

The thing is, once again it could be the fans that suffer, and I feel for our very own Rams board resident Mr.Derby County. It must be horrible watching the financial circus act week after week, and the threats of being able to finally go and watch your team next season after a year or so of isolation, but starting the season on minus 6 or 12 points, or in the 3rd tier, if the EFL grow a pair, is a bit of a s**t grinder.

Completely agree. They saw a quick way to get rid and took it. Keogh is a genuine idiot for his actions, but I'm on his side here.

Hope he wins after what they did to him.

He was an idiot and deserved to be sacked, however, the way Derby FC went about it, is a disgrace and I for one is backing Keogh to shaft them for as much money as possible.

Mart, debt is debt- and we’ve got a horrendous amount of it. Something that is often ignored by a lot of our fan base

Why did he deserve to be sacked?
He wasn't drink driving, his teammates were.
Teammates that they not only didn't sack, but started one of in the next match.

He's played 33 matches this season, so it's not like it was a career ending injury.

Because mainly he's a role model to not only the club and the fans, but to the community and getting in the car knowing full well the driver was well over the limit and intoxicated just doesn't cut the mustard.

By getting in that car, he pretty much accepted the decisions of his fellow players/colleagues. Something a captain, leader and role model should have not done.

Yet the driver wasn't sacked.
He was also a role model.

Jack Graelish has repeatedly been done for dangerous driving and drink driving, he's not been sacked.

I'm not having that a passenger has committed a worse crime than the actual drivers.
They all made terrible lapses on judgement, but Keogh wasn't the one who crashed

He didn't deserve to be sacked at all in my eyes, he deserved punishment but they took it too far to try and pinch the pennies, it's rightly came back to bite them.

I don't agree with the fact Derby didn't sack those other two players. I think they should have gone also. The driver more than anyone!

And the fact Derby sacked their captain who was a passenger (purely because of his age and the contract he was on) and yet kept two younger players (one of which was the driver) is wrong.

There was 3 options they could have chose to do:
- Sack all 3
- Fine/punish (but keep) all 3
- Sack the driver and fine/punish the other 2

Instead they chose to keep the driver and the younger passenger and sack the other passenger who was older and on more money.

As I said above, don't agree with Keogh's actions during the incident, but the way Derby have acted, I hope Keogh wipes the floor with them.
