Another slow start to the season. Did we get preseason wrong playing the kids and half and half teams too much?

Should we of went to Bradford etc getting more of our first team players up to speed.

Also should we have had more competitive games, seemed like a few kick abouts and we are all waiting for rhe players to bed in still.

Play your best players and a few get injured - what then?

We still have three players not here.. potential first teamers.

Then there’s Engle and Latte Laff.. who else joined after the season started?

Did we do anything different from anyone else?
not sure dont really watch anyone elses pre season.

Just a thought did the team that took the field against Millwall in the first game spend enough minutes on the pitch together in preseason.

Seems we are still waiting for them to gel

I don't think so, really.

It's the shirt, I think. Those white bands around the sponsor and the fact there's far too much text on the front is the main issue.

It's the nature of the start of the season that's wrong for Championship teams, 1 month of football while the transfer window is still open, makes it a crap blend of season/preseason with everyone scrambling about finalising player signings and loans (n)

It wasnt playing kids that was the problem, it was not having first team players in the door to play at all - until we get three more in we wont be the full deal

Boro’s problems were not really anything to do with our pre season, they originate from last season As we all know.
We had great success with our loan signings, particularly the offensive players, and we had the top striker in our league. Where we went wrong was , we did not overcome Coventry and then Luton to get promotion.

Our gallant failure in not winning promotion put our attacking successes in the shop window unfortunately ensuring that these players were destined to move on to better opportunities elsewhere, putting them out of Boro’s reach.

Michael Carrick alluded to this today and suggested that promotion was not easily earned by adding onto last season’s feats. He also mentioned that it wasn’t until last October that he came to pull us out of the mire.

This all possibly means that we may not start the climb towards the promised land for a while.
Patience will be needed to even find anything as successful as we had last season. This season’s Championship looks a lot stronger than last seasons was, so we must give Mr Carrick all our support. Nothing worth achieving is going to be easy. So pour yourself another G and T and hope for the best.

I think we put all our eggs in the Giles, Archer and possibly Ramsey, baskets, only to find that we weren't going to be able to sign any of them and had to quickly try to move onto the next targets. By this point we had also probably missed out on other targets. Maybe we had been given some assurances from clubs and players that there was a possibility we'd be able to get them back, but also the Akpom situation won't have helped. I don't see any issues with our pre-season programme, but the transfer situation has definitely affected us. It is the same for many other clubs though.

Dieng
???? Fry Leinhan???
???? Hackney
Forss ???? Mcgree
???

That's essentially how far away we were from a first choice eleven under Carrick Vs Millwall and Coventry

Smith and Howson injured
No left back, no striker and no CAM

Now Smith is coming back, Howson is back, Lathe and Engel have signed and Rogers slotted Into Chubas role excellently Vs Huddersfield and guess what? Positive result.
When these three players walk through the door that complete the squad I'm confident we'll start firing. Give them a chance, we've lost a lot of quality, any team would suffer
