Do you belive in god/ a god

How so?

Why can't a God be both omnipotent and omniscient?

Isn't that just the gold standard of Godding?
You can't be all knowing and all powerful because at the beginning of time God knew everything that was going to happen, ever. That removes gods self determination. He can't change anything.

I remember watching a documentary about the Normandy landings, and some old soldier said 'There was not a single atheist on that beach during the invasion'. I'm 99.99% atheist, but come the day of reckoning; who knows.

That was an argument my mam used to make. If you were dying you would pray to god to save you. It's not much of an argument.

I don't think it's so much to 'save you', just that when the inevitable happens, there is 'something after'.

Maybe. I would be more inclined to want to hug my wife and kids rather than pray. Maybe crack a bottle of kingfisher

The question is: do they play sims in sims? is it an infinite loop of simming?
I reckon they definitely do! Years ago there was an early online game called Second Life. I saw an amusing sketch about it where a guy came in from his boring office job, hung up his coat, and logged on to 'Second Life'. Then in 'Second Life' his avatar came in from a boring office job, hung up his avatar coat, and logged in to a fictional game in 'Second Life' called 'Third Life'!

(It was funny at the time.... but I fear doesn't come across so well as a story) 😴😴☹️

Could he/she maybe just not want to change anything? Maybe she could change it, but decided up front not to?

Nah, the mutually exclusive argument has been used for some time to ridicule the bible.

I favour the... Good created light before the heavens and earth, ridicule.

I don't think it's as simple as trying to understand the world around us and praying to the sun god so he comes back tomorrow. We would have observed that soo many times prior to a sun god being created.
Are we referring to solar eclipse here? If so how could we have observed it many times? Given that there would be no travel to other parts of the earth, little or no written history and that total solar eclipses only appear in the same place once in about every 400 years?

I was referring to the sun setting on an evening

Doesn't that automatically dismiss the Gods of Christianity and Islam?

It pretty much diminshes most religious texts. Wouldn't any god be described as all knowing and all powerful, as you say, the gold standard of godding.

I used the example and one other to highlight the silly nature of the bible. If it really were the word of god, he would know he couldn't create light without first creating energy. I guess he could have dumbed it down to fit the science at the time.

There is no beginning or end. There is no creation. We are all figments of our own consciousness as is the universe that we perceive to have a beginning (but often no end). Me, you, dog dirt, mud, stardust and Liz truss are all god. Eric Clapton is the same god but not because he can play guitar well or because he is an old racist kont.
Organised religion is a construct, a sideshow, a distraction; the same as money and war and politics and football.

I hope we beat Millwall. God is not VAR to the priesthood of Referees.
Anyone fancy a pint?

I pretty much agree with this and a win over Millwall.

Parents sit back and watch their children take first steps knowing they are going to fall and hurt themselves, ride a bike and fall off, fall in love and get hurt, see them making mistakes but allow them to learn from it. You know, as a parent, all of this is going to happen yet you still allow it instead of wrapping your children in cotton wool to prevent it.
True.
The difference is though, is that the creators of that child will pick up that child and will comfort it and calm and reassure it and kiss it better.
They will show it love and compassion. They will do their utmost to ensure that no harm will come to their loved ones.
They will teach that child what's right and wrong and the difference between good and evil.
They will offer words of encouragement when the child makes mistakes and that they will always be there for them in times of need.

Can the same be said of our assumed God / Creator ?
