Josh Maja is the second Nigerian player to score a double on his first Premier League start, after Efan Ekoku for Norwich City on 8 May 1993.

This is copied from the BBC match thread and as I read it I thought that was vs the Boro.

Can remember in the holgate that day and after every goal I kept on finding money on the floor as we all jumped around like lunatics celebrating the 3 goals, cost about 8 quid to get in and found that on the floor and more.

Also remember singing to the Norwich fans “your staying up your staying up we’re not we’re not” “we’re going down with the forest down with the forest”

If memory serves me correct, Ekoku was the first to score four in a Prem League away fixture, for Norwich v Everton

Just checked that stat - September 1993 Everton 1 Norwich 5 - Everton scored first.
Only 20,000 there

Indeed. Last game of the season. We were already relegated of course.

Ekoku was also the first player to score for Norwich in European competition

Good player Ekoku; I wanted us to signing him from Bournemouth when Norwich did.

Meanwhile, Fulham now 7 points behind the Geordies. They've gained 5 points on them in the last 11 matches, so plenty of time for them to reel them in.

1988 - Im pretty sure he played for Sutton United against Boro in the FA Cup
Gander Green Lane - I was there.
Edit; not in the starting 11 , maybe as a sub

But if you spoke to Everton fans they never ever get below 40,000

pretty sure tony pulis was manager at bormuff when ekoku joined from non league sutton (I think). he was fast but useless in front of goal at first, but really improved quick - quite a player

in fact Harry was manager when Ekoku joined the Cherries. Pulis sold him to Norwich

He joined Sutton in 1989. A year later.

Efan Ekoku, Joe Kinnear this is really bringing back memories of my Merlin 94 PL sticker album.

Incidently I had a meeting with Topps (own the merlin brand) at their office a few years ago and the meeting room we were in had a wall which was covered in the designs of old stickers from thorough the years. Managed to find Juninho on there and the other that sticks out is a David May sticker that I always had about 10 of in my stack
