EFL announces new broadcasting deal with Sky

Unless I'm misreading that, it sounds like streaming will be the responsibility of Sky after next season.

If read that right, on average about 1/4 of a EFL teams games will be shown, and I guess promotion chasing teams will be on up to half the time.

Article 48 to remain

The new deal allows for ‘Article 48’, the blocked broadcast period between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on Saturday afternoons to remain, meaning that main broadcast fixtures will be scheduled for outside of this time. Final fixture slots will be confirmed at a later date.

So much for that then

Its got be positive news re the money though yes? If we fail to win promotion this season then theres more money around for Championship teams. We have to understand that whilst fixtures are going to be at the behest of the broadcasters they are the paymasters.

Going from 13% of EFL matches being broadcast to 56%.

Though that percentage will obviously include the s***y EFL Trophy that I couldn't have less interest in.

Personally I want to see more money going to the lower leagues as well. The EFL trophy may be of mo interest to us as a Club but if it assists lower league teams then surely no bad thing.

Hopefully we get out this league then as it will probably mean less 3pm kick offs for us. The amount of games moved this season in particular the last few months has been *****.

Hopefully they won't be interested in a newly promoted team

In the Q&A it says there'll be 7 Saturday 3pms in the Championship each week, and there are only 12 games in a round of fixtures to begin with, so it's not going to see many moved.
