EFL Awards Shortlist - Carrick and Akpom

Brilliant and thoroughly deserved all round. What a story for Hayden, Chuba and Carrick of course.

Surprising that Heckingbottom wasn't nominated.

I fancy the winners to be:
Kompany
Chuba
Diallo

Can't see Hackney or Carrick winning it, but Akpom should be nailed on.

I always find it daft that they give the award before the end of the season though.

If Coventry get promoted, Robins has done a better job than Carrick, but the award is given before then.
If Carrick gets us promoted, I think there's a good chance he'd deserve it, though Kompany has still earned more points over the same period (with better resources).
I think Kompany probably deserves it though, unless they lose a lot in their last 6 and we go all the way.

Kompany, Akpom and Scott - that’s who I think the winners will be.

It’s incredible really that we’ve ended up with nominees in all three categories given the start to the season we had.

That being said, I’ve never understood naming the nominees before the season has finished.

Chuba has to win that, Kompany naturally will get the managers one. I doubt Hayden will win the young players award, but the nomination is a coup.

Watford are sure to win the diversity award, given they have embarked on a program of giving everyone on the planet the opportunity to manage them at some point.
Law of averages states that at some point in the next 18 months Watford will appoint one if the sugababes as manager.
