Emilio Nsue

He was an awesome guy had such passion. He could play in so many different positions aswell. I think he was our last real RB that had a sustained run in the side too we have had such back luck with RBs
He was signed as an attacker (winger) and fell into the role of rb after Karanka fell out with Fredericks and realised Whitehead's legs couldn't cope anymore.

He did seem a very good wing back though and what we wouildn't give for his like again today.

RB has always been a bit of a problem position in my my 30+years following Boro.

When the "EST ever team" threads come round, I'm spoiled for choice in every other position.

Nsue gets my vote as favourite in that position, Young is probably the best, but he's still below the quality in other positions

Michael Reiziger has to win it for me.

If ever there is a damming statement of how bad we have been in this postion,it is the words "Michael Reizjger has to win it for me".

Truly dreadful and lived off a reputation forged off being the worst player in the best Ajax team of a generation. Winston Bogarde anyone? A dozen full backs better than that imposter

Just for balance, Nsue wasn’t as universally loved as this thread suggests, and was often cited as the “weak link” in the team. He had all the usual “League One at best” type comments thrown at him.

Once the song “Ain’t Nobody” stuck to him though, he became more of a crowd favourite. Funny that.

It’s true tbf. I thought he was hit and miss. Decent going forward but easily exploitable defensively.

Hence why Karanka started to use Whitehead as a right back for certain games

Nail on head. Deffo the weak link. Benefitted from a very defensive minded set up. In Carricks attacking system would be exposed time and time again. Great pro who gave his all though, better going forward than he was defensively
