That goal gave some serious Giles > Akpom vibes. It’s good to see we can still play the way we did last season with different players. Think Rogers has bundles of potential and his numbers have been really good considering his pitch time. Engel has quality and is getting better every game.

Excited to see what we can do for the rest of this season.

The game is very natural to him that’s clear to see. Sometimes too easy. If he works on the concentration on the final pass then wow, he could be something special. I think it’s a great signing tbf. An exciting one for sure.

Sometimes too easy is a good point. I reckon he was a standout player in youth football, so it could have been that way for him.

Professional football is a big step up though, but he seems to be adjusting. He has the best support with Carrick and Woodgate to keep improving.

Honestly can’t praise them enough.. we did some seriously good work this summer.
 
Engel is improving all the time. He's definitely better going forward than defending, but I'm struggling to think of any outright fullbacks these days.
I like his willingness to drive into space and his tendancy to give the crosses some zip. Reminds me a bit of Gorgeous George in that he's more power than trickery.
As for Rogers, he's got a future ahead of him if he wants it and from what I've seen of him, he doesn't look like he's going to cause any fuss if he's not starting games.
Regardless of who is in the side, I think it must be a fun time to play under Carrick as he is always giving the lads the opportunity to express themselves.
Not sure if we have enough to get promoted this season which is a shame as I think Hackney will go in the summer as part of the model, but if we can improve the lads already here and add to them then the new model might pay off coupled with a bit of good luck.
Hopefully 2024 sees us rid ourselves of the injury curse that has plagued the end of last season and a lot of this.
 
In many ways I'd like to see Rogers get a run in the side playing as a 10.

Am I right in saying that yesterday was the first time he's playing a league game for us as a 10?
 
I like rogers bags of potential and seems very much a confidence player. Engel is coming into his own. That said I still sadly think both are a few levels giles and Chuba.
 
Roger’s has been getting absolute pelters on here at times - i think as said above he has bags of potential considering his age and what he’s achieved so far in the relatively low number of games he’s played. You have to bare in mind that young players are going to make lots of mistakes as they learn their trade but I’ve seen enough so far to think this lad could do quite well for us - there might be a nice profit for the club when he does move on.
