Now is the time to move Root across and make Ben Stokes the England Test Captain. On the field it looks as though Senior players the like of Broad and Anderson are taking no notice of him.
Also who on earth would have gone into this test without a spinner. Bring on Ben Stokes before the Ashes.

I really think the problem is just the batting. We have literally 1 batsman with any genuine consistency and even HE hasn’t been as consistent since becoming captain.

All those who bat 1-3 plus Pope just can’t find any rhythm. Lawrence too early to say. Buttler only good enough to bat 7 in tests.

To be honest I think the amount of really good batsmen that we have will fall in place under a good captain like Stokes.
I personally would put Root number 3
 
How do you know Stokes is a good captain?
What difference would have it have made playing Leech?
Who would have left out for Leech
Lawrence from batting ? who was joint top scorer 1st innings
or
From bowlers Anderson?
Who had worst figures out of all bowlers in this match.
Easy speaking after event.
The problem isn’t Root the problem is lack of any other consistent batsmen apart from himself.
