Def: TAA, Trippier, Walker, Chilwell, Shaw, Stones, Maguire, Mings, Coady

Mid: Rice, Phillips, Henderson, Mount, Bellingham, Foden, Grealish,

Fwd: Sancho, Sterling, Rashford, Greenwood, Kane, DCL

Space for one more… Lingard or Watkins or Bamford??

Lingard, but I def wouldn’t take Watkins over Bamford. And I’m not a Bamford “fan boy” by any means, just think he deserves it more and is a better player.

Foden isn't a midfielder. He has to play the same as he does for Man City.
 
I think TAA will miss out for Reece James from Chelsea.

The extra space will go to Watkins, with Bamford missing out.

Grealish has to be in.

I hope Dier isn’t included. IMO it’s a waste of selection. He had had a poor season and there is plenty of options for CB and CDM without him. Would prefer another attacker i.e. Greenwood.

Just think with the added five subs if we are chasing a game its another fresh set of youthful legs and adds another option going forward.
 
I don’t think the OP is far off with that squad. It will be really close between James and TAA.

Ward-Prowse will be one who could find himself squeezing in and I think Lingard will definitely be in the squad. We don’t need another striker with Kane, Rashford, DCL, Greenwood and potentially Foden is we’re scrapping the barrel as a False 9!
 
Ward-Prowse is a shoo in due to Henderson’s injury which could put Bellingham at risk and I don’t think it’s right but Dier will be in too, Gareth likes him and his versatility probably at the expense of Coady from the OP.
Really hope he takes Bellingham and Grealish but Greenwood’s form of late might get him the nod.

Even with 26 it’s difficult to pick, and I really hope TAA goes but I doubt it, even though he’d be perfect to put on if we’re chasing a game which is likely at some point.

Reality is it’s probably our best squad in my life of watching tournaments (first one was 82) but unfortunately the pain I suffered after getting my hopes up from 98 to 04 means I can never get as invested in England again.

I agree. That wasn’t my squad, but more what I think GS will pick.

Definitely the best England squad I’ve ever known with only a question mark over the keeper as we lack a world class keeper in the Shilton seaman mould.

I fully expect that the Europa League and Champions League Finals are the reason for that.

Plenty of players missing as they're still with their clubs, and there's a chance they could be injured.

Plus there are still question marks over Henderson and Maguire's fitness.

Be interesting to see who is selected then, and some like Bamford, might get a chance in the warm up games.
