Well done England on an unbelievable 3- nill series T20 win against South Africa.
Now we need to promote Morgan as the full England captain. Root not a captain.
 
Test and limited overs are completely different games which require a different skills, I doubt Morgan even wants to play test cricket or has the game for it these days
 
Morgan was pretty gash at test match cricket. That's not a a go at him as a cricketer. He's perfectly suited one day and T20.

So many top T20 and One day batsman don't have the mindset or skill set for test cricket. We saw that with Jason Roy in the ashes.

It's all well and good opening in a T20. In a test match you have slips and a swinging ball. The role of an opener in the short game is to get runs. In test cricket its to bat long and see off the bowlers and more so new ball.

We still have plenty of issues batting wise at test match level. The openers and arguably top 5 are pretty in inconstant. We are regularly 60-4 etc.

The bowling at test match level is as good as anything. We do though have a pretty frighting T20 and one day line up with many decent players not getting a look in👍
 
Morgan will retire after the T20 World Cup. Bit pointless making him captain of a format he hasn’t played for ten years!

Root isn’t doing too bad as test captain and there’s no one else anyway.
 
Root's a Developing Captain. Seen really clever moments from him In the last couple of series.
If I'm right, I'd expect his own batting performances to improve, as he matures into the job.
 
I like Joe Root I think he is a leader by example, he always looks fully committed.

I’m not knowledgable enough about cricket to know whether he is tactically good enough.

Test cricket is a vastly different game to T20 though, you have to patiently build a position to win from in 5 day matches whereas one day is all about scoring quickly and keeping it tight in the field.
