Looking at a medium priced lease and virtually every car is an SUV and an ugly one at that. For example the whole volvo and vw ranges look absolutely dreadful far worse than their ice equivalents

I have the Volvo XC90 Recharge (Hybrid version) and think that the new EX90 is better looking, but wasn't invented when I ordered my car 18 months back. If it was I'd have probably gone full electric.

I was considering a Volvo estate but they've just announced they're discontinuing all but SUVs in the UK.

They need to be huge as they have a huge heavy battery to lug around 24/7.
I've seen some medium sized & do like some of those Polestar 2 I like.. esp front end.. & interior..

They're getting much nicer. There are quite a few I've seen when out walking the dog and I have to say that the Audi etron GT and Cupra Born are very good looking cars in my opinion.

It's pretty much happening immediately i think, or that was the impression i got from the article i read. Imagine Volvo not making an estate.
Obviously it's driven by commercial value and consumer preference, but for me an SUV just doesn't tick the boxes i want so it's not great (for me) that so many manufacturers are concentrating on that market

They need to be slightly raised height due to the battery storage. There's not a lot of 'saloon' type cars, and they (Tesla S) tend to be a lot longer to accommodate the spread of the batteries.

2 reasons: they need to be big to fit the batteries in and secondly SUVs have the highest mark up as EVs cost more to make.

Yes some cities in Germany were trying to push for bans on them in certain areas, and reduced speed limits. I'm not sure if anything came of it.

Both false. oK Ev cost legacy makers more to make, but not new manufacturers. And the battery thing is utterly completely false. Look at how much space is in a Tesla compared to other cars in the same class. My model 3 is not a big car but the cabin is huge. The front has a "boot" where and ICE would have an engine and the boot is deep, where an ICE would have a fuel tank.
The only reason is SUVs sell.
The OPs typical anti EV post is, like many of the anti Ev tropes, not a problem unique to EV.
Makers of sleek, good looking sports cars such as Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Maserati have all made hideous SUVs, ruining their brand image to make money. Even the classy Rolls Royca and Bentley have made them.
So no, not and EV problem a car industry problem.
