Extraordinary post on the Sunderland forum

I think there's a category that tries not to care because their head to head record against us has been so poor in the last 50 years.

In doing that, they show they do really care.
Yeah I actually think there's several reasons why they pretend not to care. I think it also makes them feel their club is big and important, this idea that tinpot Boro are desperate to be noticed by them and create a rivarly.

They're a strange bunch.

It was done to death when we played them but we established they had one of their largest attendances of the year against us and also they literally sing 'we hate boro'.

There is no argument whatsoever that they consider us a bigger game than just about any other.

Obviously they want us to beat their relegation rivals, we would if roles reversed.

Wouldn't be so sure about that. People on here last year were wanting us to lose to teams that might stop Sunderland getting in the playoffs rather than playing ourselves into form after we'd gone off the boil.

Yeah great. Could go one better and just not care about any matches? Or any sports? Or anything? We could win the prize for being the group of people that care the least about anything ever. Not that we'd be bothered about that of course.
There’d be competition from the Kate Middleton thread though.

Why does everyone on the internet seem to be trying to claim they don’t care about the stuff they spend hours and hours debating?

Sunderland fans don’t like Boro, generally speaking, you can tell the from the atmosphere when we play them, which we have done like 50 times in my time supporting the club.

Whether it’s to the extent that they’d never ever want us to win a match is obviously a matter for each individual concerned. Some will, some won’t, for many it will depend on circumstance.

Just to point out that with many tens of thousands of SAFC fans there will be different thoughts, opinions, beliefs on every topic. A statement like 'they' think this or that is sort of nonsensical... Same with us.
Mind you their forum is a bit special - a breeding ground for a particular set of weirdo's who love to w4nk themselves & each other to death with peculiar rantings & comments on themselves and other clubs including Boro.

Reminds me of a game we had at Bristol Rovers in the early 1990s when a Boro win would put us top of the old 2nd division and a Bristol Rovers win would put Newcastle bottom of the table.

Hmmmm....
