F1 : Hypothetical Life After Lewis

Lewis Hamiliton is non-commital on his future until after the investigation into what went on at the last race of the season.

Personally, I think he's just hanging this over the heads of the FIA to ensure they do a proper job .. but I'm just curious what Mercedes will do if LH walks .. who's available to sit in his car? I suppose they could do anything given they've won 8 titles on the trot and wlll "probably" have the best car next year too .. even so far as saying to Bottas to delay his move and go for one more year; promising him he'll be number 1 ..

But if LH does walk .. who steps in?

I'm not sure Hamilton is attempting to force the issue with the FIA. He's been in F1 since 2007 and is the best driver in the history of the sport. He has nothing left to prove even without an 8th World Title.

If he chooses to walk away, will Mercedes go for someone like Vettel? He would fit in with the team pretty well.

Bottas is already at Alfa, he won't go back to Merc. Its possible Merc may try for Norris, or more likely they would have to pull someone from their young driver programme.

I hope LH does stay, it was his championship in Abu Dhabi, he'd done everything he needed to do over the last 3 races (including some fortuitous marshal penalties for Max). I'd like to see him come back and fight for the 8th, but I can understand if the FIA don't clarify and make sure rule enforcement is consistent, he would walk. Either way, he's possibly, in my opinion alongside Schumey as the greatest driver in F1.

I guess it would be someone like De Vries or Ocon to replace him.
It would be interesting if he did walk the FIA have been shocking in their response to the race manipulation. Hoping it’ll go away, and when it hasn’t blaming fans for misunderstanding and getting their affiliated journalists to pump the propaganda

Isn’t nico hulkenberg their reserve driver? Imagine he is the only one who is without a team who could step in and perform to a decent level from the start.
Wouldn’t surprise me if they made a deal to bring Bottas back though

Yup, he thrives on it. He knows he will have created a massive talking point and that appeals to the narcissistic part of his personality.

I suspect Lewis will race in 2022. If he doesn't the reserve driver (Hulk?) will step up.

The farce in Abu Dhabi needs to be addressed. Team Principles (Wolff and Horner) should not be able to talk to the Race Director during a race or at least we shouldn't be hearing it, it made Masi's job more difficult than it should be. It made him part of the "show". He isn't and shouldn't be. The other thing is we need to have assurances from Liberty Media that this will remain a "Sport" not become some sort of WWE on wheels fans who have followed F1 for years need to know what the intentions of the owners are. If they want it to be a show, fair enough it's their toy now, crack on (without me and a lot of other motorsport fans)

The clue's in his name - he is literally talking bo11ocks :D
He really is isn’t he? Random anti Lewis prejudice that is ignorant of the man’s actions.
That’s one of the sad things about our greatest every driver. People like him and @zorro_mfc have an irrational and really nasty hatred of Lewis without being able to explain why.

No offence mate but that is a ridiculous statement and entirely ignores everything that has happened in the past month
Got nothing to do with the last month, he was robbed and rightly he is upset at the way things have played out.

He has always had a narcissistic trait in him, I would bet my house and kids he has zero intention of not being part of F1 next season.

He could clear this up with one post, drop a text to a journo, ask the team to update.

He has always had a narcissistic trait in him,
Based on how you know him so well personally, being a friend of the family and all that?

Or based on the nonsense you skim through in the press and the media about his lifestyle, clothes, hair etc?

Because the stuff I see of him leads me to think he is a half decent bloke (given he has obscene wealth and talent in equal measure) and genuinely seems to be trying to make a difference in the sport and in certain aspects of society as well.

I linked the Daily Mail because something tells me you would be familiar with it.

But i guess that doesn't fit the narrative eh?

So, you think running off to a ranch in the mountains and not using social media is "attention seeking"?

Not sure how you arrive to that conclusion unless, as I stated previously, it's an irrational and u explained hatred of one of our greatest ever sportsmen.

Why? He is under contract for next season and has said or done nothing to suggest he will leave. Why would he need to update anyone on this?
