Fantastic People

This virus is bad news.
Other bad news is people biting / spitting at police or disregarding the lockdown.
But most people are not like that. Most people are amazing.

In my house some are on the shielded list.
We have had neighbours send us a text to ask if we need anything from the shops. Friends have offered to get medical supplies for us.
My boss has told me to work from home even though my job is not really office based.
People are keeping their distance even when making deliveries.

It's an awful situation but in many ways it's revealing the very best in people.

I thought I would start a thread as I am sure there are other good things happening as a result of this.

We have our Thursday night clapathon where the whole close comes out to support the frontline staff. We are all out for about 30 minutes checking that all are OK and basically making the best of a bad thing. The upside to the virus is the camaraderie that is coming out, which hopefully outweighs the stupidity of certain quarters.

We have a lady who lives on her own in the close and the wife asked me to wood turning & paint her a kaleidoscope Easter egg. She was over the moon we she received it and it turns out she collects kaleidoscopes. 👍

We received a knock yesterday and she had left 3 chocolate Easter eggs for us. She went round all the other neighbours houses and left them eggs. It must cost her a few bob.

Zorro - I cling to that hope too.
Johnson may just have had his epiphany moment.
There are countless stories of people in 40s/50s who come close to death making significant changes to their values.

Better to leave him out of this I feel. It is supposed to be a good news thread. Just the mention of his name here is spoiling it for me.

I think this will be the legacy from these troubled times how people have come together the amazing stories of how people have helped others.

I honestly do think we will have changed society for ever as this shows never take anything for granted.
That's nice zorro, that would that be amazing if so much will come out of such a horrific crises

1finny, probably the 1st time I've checked you, but you just leave Johnson out of this thread, it's down to be being positive, please, cheers

Hang on - it was sincerely positive and hopeful
I was suggesting he may have had an epiphany moment
That could be the most positive thing to come out of this by a mile

Whenever I see any medical or care staff on TV, not just ours but those around the world, I get choked up at just how truly heroic they are.
I have definitely gone through something of a reset in terms of what is important even though I thought I was already a bit of a socialist.
I hope I am not alone and we do see a more humanist future for the world.

I think we are going to regard the nhs and our medical staff in the same way the US now looks on NYPD and ny fire after 9/11.
