I am no lawyer, you are.
I've just been disgusted at the UK's apparently scandalous dragging of its heels re actually applying sanctions.
(I'm equally ashamed of our approach to taking refugees)

There has been much noise around lawyers and accountants for these oligarchs and companies making it difficult for UK Government to act properly and quickly.
I am interested in your view as to how much leeway the Government should get. It feels like none to me?

Zero. Absolutely right. Our entire approach has been the exception rather than the rule. From visas to sanctions. The only reason that lawyers and accountants are able to protect their clients is because of the government's complete failure to act, not the other way around. With that said, there appear to be a lot of UK firms only too willing to take dirty money from Russian clients.
