Looking for a bit of advice please from our many finance savvy members!

I got a Linkedin message via a contact from a Financial Services company in Newcastle called Reeves Independent about providing me with Pension advice. I checked them out on the FCA website and they are approved for managing pensions. I have since had an introductory call with them and it went OK.

If anybody has come across them or used them and can provide any feedback it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If you are looking for that kind of advice, have a chat with Gritstone Financial Services in Sheffield. Run by a Boro fan.

Having an unsolicited contact from a company re pensions is a big red flag. Particularly if you are intending on transferring. Be extremely careful.

Personally, if this has now made you think about financial matters I would seek out my own Financial Advisor.

Thanks for calling this out, I have now told them that I will not be proceeding with their follow up call.

I have been using (and still use) Hargreaves Lansdown SIPP for a number of years and up until recently have been fairly happy with them. The last couple of years my pension has stagnated, I know there's been a lot of uncertainty over this period but I've felt like I'm just pouring money into a bottomless pit and have now frozen my auto payments. One of the good things about them is that you can easily transfer your funds into cash online which can make up to 4.2% interest. The Cash has been out performing my funds over this recent period, half of my pot is now in cash.

I'm getting close to retirement age so due to the pension's poorer than expected performance I'm a bit concerned that I'm not going to be able to retire as early as I'd hoped. Maybe I should move some of it into Gold!

I'm glad that you've stopped dealings with them, makes good sense.

Gold's almost at its 20 year high... I think usually you buy gold in a boom and its price rises in a recession / bust period
